Miles

How many miles is a G really worth? When do they start having problems? Whats the most amount of miles you could get?
Thanks!

if you take care of the car and do regular scheduled/preventative maintenance, the G will last a good 200k, I've seen plenty of maxima's and other infiniti models go well over 200.

I doubt the G will have any major problems but minor and annoying problems might be there from the first day.

As a man made machine you could have problems at 200 mile. Technology today allows almost cars to go well beyond 200K mile with proper care and maintenance. This is not the 60/70 where this was unheard of. For the most part I'm willing to bet our cars will last longer than we are willing to keep them, for the simple reason we'll always want the next model or whatever pleases the eye.

I'm coming up on 106k. Aside from the rattles, the car still drives very strong.

Want it to survive >200,000 miles... it's easy: a) change oil and all other fluids regularly; b) don't drive it like a bat out of hell; c) be careful with modifications that change the system as a whole, such as trying to change the ECU or dramatically lowering and raising the suspension or adding significantly oversized tires to make the car look cool. Essentially, the car is systemically built (it's a system and not mere components) and many current modifications or failure to maintain car will prematurely damage it.

Well, I just made up my mind after many hours of research. I am going to buy a car with high miles and do this to it:
Forged S1 shortblock
AP BBK
TEIN Flex suspension
A TT kit
borla exaust
new lines/cables
and some other things

I have about $25,000 - $30,000 I can put into the car(not including the car price). Is that a good setup? Or what do you reccomend. Since I will Deffinately get the Shortblock redone as well as the engine, miles dont really matter.
Thanks!

lol why did ask how long a more stock / factory G drivetrain will last if you're going to do all that

it's not going to last 200K miles with a TT set up no matter what engine you put in it. No piston rings will last near that long with high boost. Depending on how you drive the car will determine alot I guess but a high performance set up like that is meant to be fun and fast but not last 200k miles.

maybe you want to know how long that set up will last ?

with that much money, and you goal are you sure this is the car you want to go nuts with ?? much easier vehicles out there to make crazy fast for a lot less money. Unless you just want a crazy fast G35

hi, No. I was thinking at the time of just getting a stock G with maybe just an intake or something like that. Nothing major.
But, I recently just came across some funds so I am able to pay for a bit more. Plus, I thought it would be a great project.
Has anyone delt with Forgedperformance.com?
Thanks!

Wait, I did not see how long a TT setup would last. So my next question is: How many miles is a TT setup good for? I will drive safely on the road but might hit the track 2-4 times a month.
Thanks!
