Dealer says won't work

Looking next week to have 16" steel rims with a meatier Ultra Grip tire for winter.Found nothing in the search for 16" rims.
They are ordering an OEM steel rim specifically for the G35.With tire's $879+tax from Jiffy Muffler.
The steelership says can't put 16's on.Hmmm.Makes me want to do it anyway. Can anyone tell me why this set-up won't work.Or is it just the stealer hates to see my dollars go somewhere else.I think they should get by the callipers no problem.
Any words from the wise would be appreciated.

Considering the G35 BASE came on stock 16" rims and no sunroof, I think your dealer is an idiot.

I'm running 16's for the winter and have no issues with the calipers. Although I did hear the 05/06's have larger calipers, I can't vouch for those years.

Yes that would be my first choice to.But those deals are rare to find here.I see lots of them for sale in U.S.A but by the time I pay for shipping to canada, there not much of a deal anymore. Thanks to those who replied so quickly to this thread and confirmed what i already knew. The stealer is a nasty breed who prays on honest people who take there word as gospel.

With the right offsets the 16's will fit fine. The dealers are idiots. Here is my car with 16" 300Z TT wheels on it.

15's, if made right, will fit as well (at least on an '03), not much clearance though,

that was 867 for the rims and tires? not bad, in my research i found that it was almost cheaper to buy 16 steelies and tires than to buy just the 17" tires.

ended up getting a used set of a Zed, Toyo's, decent looking rims.

i'm still not sold that cheap alloys (or used) are better than steelies for the winter...

^^^ Exactly what I found out.17 " tires are about the same price as 16" OEM stealies and a top of the line winter tire. The tire I'm getting with the steal rim is the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice.
