Oil consumption..how to remedy
Oil consumption..how to remedy
I am out of warranty and totally neglected the oil consumption issue, so I guess it's up to me to get this fixed.
what can I do to fix this. would rebuilding the engine be enough or do I need a whole new engine?
Since I would be taking the motor apart what can I do to get some more horses out of it but keep it as a good DD. I don't want to go all out but just maybe add some ponies.
I had to neglect this issue because of so many difficult issues going on in my life at the time.

about 2 quarts every 1k..my car is a 2004 sedan. Mobil 1 used always and changed at 4000 intervals.
Edit: forgot to mention..car has around 67K miles

Thats B.S.... they have to honor the warranty. Powertrain is 6yr 70k miles. Take it back, tell them you want an oil consumption test started. Get this ball rolling before the clock hits 70k. For what its worth, I ran mobil one in my wifes spec v which is notorious for burning oil. It would use 1/2 - 1 qt every 3k miles. I switched out to conventional oil, penzoil and doesn't burn anything anymore.

take it to the dealer before you hit 70k, have them start an oil consumption report. if the problem persists, they are obligated to correct the defect. do not take no for an answer.
