Take out the rear seat belts. You'd be surprised how much those things weigh...

 

you do realize that two cars making the same power and all variables equal that the lighter car will be faster, right? being faster even if by a margin would be the reason why most people mod their car so that kind of seems the point.

 

The oem hood is AL and only weighs ~3-4lbs more than than a CF one. Plus they never fit as well. Even my Stillen one didn't fit as nice as the stock one.

As for the driveshaft, I'm not aware of any one made for the sedan.


There have been many good ideas on here.

If you want to pull out the back seat, go for it. You know the negatives so go ahead. The fuel pump is not that loud. I have a Walbro 255 and have driven around without the back seat many times. With the extra road and exhaust noise I don't notice the pump much.

The mid-pipe swap is a great idea. Even a full Borla weighs a lot less than the oem exhaust.

Light forged wheels will help a lot but are not cheap. A good set of Volk TE37's are my fav.

A BBK upgrade with AL calipers will help. Again it will cost you but you will get many performance gains from them. My 332mm RB kit weighs a lot less than the smaller oem brakes.

Take off your cats and get a set of test pipes. Your car will be louder and raspy but you will drop at least 15lbs.

 

What's the point of getting a luxury car and then stripping the luxury out? It's not a Civic. You are gonna destroy the car for no reason.

Plus removing 100lbs only nets maybe a .10 in the 1/4 mile, not even close to being worth it.

 

Technically, Skylines aren't luxury cars in Japan...

 

I agree. Plus 100 lbs won't even give you a .1 in 1/4 mile... maybe 300 lbs would. I've tried at the track!

 

If a great track time is your goal I would strip out most of that stuff and slap on some good DR's for the night. Then put it all back.

 

I was just thinking the same thing as far as reducing weight. I was thinking starting with a light weight battery first. Not sure on the make as I'm still looking into it.

I'd start by sanding off all that pesky paint. That stuff is really heavy...

 

If you dont' want a back seat then trade in your G for a 350Z. That's at least a few hundred pounds

 

You might aswell remove your rear doors and seal them up with aluminum sheets and plastic windows, but after all said and done, you're car isn't any better than the civic that beat you 2 nights ago.
