Recommendations for 1/4 track tomorrow!

I am running my Sedan! It will have 1300 miles or so by then, and its time to see what she can do on a few runs. Any recommendations?!

6MT here.

Don't roll through the lights staging or stage with your rear tires (yes, i've seen this before in the lane next to me =P)
Then go on the last yellow, that way by the time the light turn green your car's just starting to move...
Also, if you're having trouble getting traction you may try and lower the rear tire pressure some, that's helped in the past if you're getting wheel hop or just sitting there and spinning the tires.

1. Remove, spare, jack, tools.
2. Leave 1/4 tank gas with 91+ octane
3. If manual work your clutch with different RPM if auto brake torque it from 1200rpm.
4. As Justin said, go with last 'yellow' light and play with different tire psi. I would lower rear tires to 28psi.
5. Good luck!

Russell,

Recommend removing the engine cover for improved intake cooling. There's four 10mm fasteners, two "acorn" nuts at the front and two cap screws at the rear. Becareful not to loose the brass colored metal spacers/stops... they tend to stay behind or fall off if you're not careful. Also, when re-installing the cover, don't overtighten the fasteners, especially the rear cap screws. Several folks have broken them off or stripped out the aluminum threads.

well, how did it go?

took me almost 15,000 miles before I figured out how to launch my 6 MT without spinning the crap out of my tires.

Re: Recommendations for 1/4 track tomorrow!

Well guys I decided to run as the car was for a daily driver. No tire pressure changes, no weight removed.

Car weighed in at 3585 with me, so -190 lb, 3395 is what it weighs with 1/4 tank of gas. I was able to pull multiple 14.4 at 97 mph runs with 2.1 60s. I was having serious problems off the line and it was just bogging, too MUCH traction. I tried 2k, 2500, 3k. At 3k, I had wheel hop. So I only did 4 runs and called it a night. It only has 1400 miles now so I didn't want to abuse it much.

I am sure after alot more miles I can get some better times out of it.

Russell,

Did you actually weigh your car or is 3395 lbs. an estimate?

I weighed it at the scale like I said I was going too. That is what it came up with. I had 4 quarts of oil in the trunk too.
