Just out of curiosity, why would this worry you? I could see a benefit of better weight distribution and less heat under the hood, but what drawbacks would a remote-mounted turbo present? Thoughts anyone?

Not a huge fan of STS...if I wanted to use 30ft of piping, I'd just build my own turbo setup. The setup I did for my brother's Maxima was rather convoluted but still nothing compared to what they do on an average car.

Using an undersized turbo to make up for the huge distance it has to travel can't be great for efficiency or provide much in the form of upgradeability. It may be fine at 5psi but I see some flaws in their argument that b/c if their setup runs the turbo 500 degrees cooler, then that's 500 degrees of kinetic energy lost from the exhaust manifold to the turbo which is not insignificant. If I recall, it's not the mass of the air that spins the turbo but the energy associated w/ that mass.

If this type of setup were great for everyday use, most manufacturers would be doing it OEM. The turbos would last longer and make for lower underhood temps. Instead, they're always trying to get the turbo closer to the exhaust valves.
