First, if the dealer is factory ordering your car, it takes 3-4 months for delivery. I would suggest going to infiniti.com and go to G35; the build and locate. Build the exact car you want (select G35 leather AWD); put in your zip code; select color and options. Then then look at dealer inventories within 100 or 150 miles. If you see your car, either contact that dealer or have your dealer seek a trade. Have you gotten a price (over invoice); where are you located?
We've had our G35x for a few weeks and love it. Going in I had two issues with the car: 1. it comes with Goodyear RSAs, which are poor tires; and 2. terrible brake dust from the front pads. I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss waiting to be installed and they're fantastic. I've also changed the pads to EBC kevlar pads (did the same thing with my Audi A4, which the Infiniti replaced). The EBC pads give better "feel" than the OEM pads and give even better braking and no dust.
Unlike Toyotas, the G35x is much sportier; much better handling, brakes, and acceleration. Its much more in the league with the BMW 5 series, only $15-20,000 cheaper and more reliable.

Welcome to the forum. I have been yold that most of the issues with the 03's are gone on the 04's but read some post and you will get an idea of what to look for or be thankful you are not suffering.

How long did you have those kevlar pads on the Audi, mileage wise I mean, and was it expensive to swap them out?

Be aware many of us have experience fit and finish issues (rattles, squeaks, seat rocking, pulling right, leg pain from seat, etc.).
I love the car, but there are quite a few bugs with the 2003's (not sure about 2004) that have really diminished the driving experience.
Consider all your options carefully...
