You should be able to shine those up, even if you dont wet sand you should be able to use a DA or rotary and really get them shiney.

If that's an 06, then the car already has factory painted sills. The 03/04 sill plastic isn't completely smooth. It has a very slight grain and when the paint is applied, that grain becomes more pronouced as the paint builds. I think it would be possible to apply some extra paint and clear and knock it all down smooth, but I neither have that skill nor do I like the glossly look of black sills. The natural waviness of plastic is very apparant in certain lights. I was hoping for a semi-gloss finish.

The product your thinkin of is called "Slicksand" its a very high buil dprimer that fills textured platics as well as deep scratches etc. it works amazing, we used it all the time on 20000$ paint jobs on Rods at the shop i worked at during college. awesome stuff, a bit of a PITA when you spray a whole car with it cuz you wind up blocking it out for DAYS but on soemthng liek our sills its much less time consuming.

I took this today while I was out at a job site. The sills were covered in dust in this pic. Hopefully this is what you're looking for.

Nice Job Dave. I too with my bro-in-law painted my sills. We took them off, cleaned them and I also noted the graineyness of the sills. He ended up using the flex agent, primer, basecoat IP, pearl, and then clear coat. Turned out pretty good. I've had them for over 2 years now and no chipping that I've seen yet.

Good job. Looks great and sure beats having to fork out the money to have someone else do it or to even buy the Aero side sills from Infiniti.

looks much better !

funny poeple talking smack about your paint process. You did a better job than I did lol I used a rattle can I am very familiar with body work, and the paint process. I taped off all the area, washed it, sanded it, and preped it then sprayed it with a gloss black plastic spray paint. I'm really good with spray paint and I don't really care if someone talks crap about it. It still looks much better than before. Honestly the only way somone would be able to tell is if they got down on the ground and looked closesly to see that it's just not as shiny as the rest of the paint. It looks more like a semi gloss paint. Most people wold never look twice though and if I saw someone bent down looking at my car that closely they'd get a nice kick in the ***. I still plan to buff on the spray paint when I get some time. Betting that will shine it up. I wouldn't try this obviously if I had any other color car than black.

Like you, I did a rattle can job with my Stillen kit on my old black 96 Maxima. No one knew the difference. With a black car, certain paint work is so easy. Actually, that might be the only advantage to owning a black car. This will definitely be my last one. I'm sick and tired of seeing all the blemishes in direct lighting. Everyone tells me how clean and new my car looks, but I could go around the car and pick out 20+ spots with clear scratches and sand blasted hood. From anything more than 3 feet, the car looks great.

I hear ya on the nicks, and dings but I love black cars. I had a black 708RWHP '00 GT Mustang, and black supercharged crew cab '01 F150 with 500RWTQ before this black car. I'll have it repainted later if nicks, and scratches bother me that bad. Well lately I've traded so many cars by the time it gets to that point I'll probably trade it for the next black car anyway. Black vehicles look sexy, masculine, tough, and clean as hell all at the same time.

my other black beauties

sorry back to your sills

BTW - I spray painted the bottom of my F150 too. It came w/ gold on the bottom.

I saw your car today while heading into the office. I was going East bound on 135th, I assumed that was your car. Your lower skirt paint job looks great! Good work.
