05 RWD Fuses/Fusebox
Last weekend while at the track I removed the Stop Lamp fuse so I could do a burnout. It came flying out and fell inside the fusebox compartment and now I cannot retrieve it. I noticed there was an extra 10amp fuse, so I thought I'd be covered. Wrong. The extra fuse doesn't fit right. I'm not a fuse guy, so I can't exactly explain why it won't fit. I just know the prongs are longer and shaped differently.
I didn't want to leave the track without brake lights, and it's close to 100 miles away. I looked at the fusebox diagram and saw a fuse labeled AWD. I yanked that fuse(10amp) and am now using it in place of the missing 10a Stop Lamp fuse.
So - what is the purpose of this AWD fuse in the RWD vehicles? Am I driving around with some important subsystem now effectively disabled?

Correct me if im wrong but its probably nothing, my guess is infiniti probably uses the same fuse box along with populated fuses amongst the G35X and G35. There probably isnt any wires terminating at that AWD fuse or a relay is missing somewhere for the AWD system, making that fuse you pulled do nothing but act as an extra 10A fuse. If you had AWD, pulling that fuse would probably disable the AWD system.
As for the extra fuse it was probably defective, they are industry standard, or at least should be.
