AMSOIL 1year/ 25000 mile oilchange

I picked up an amsoil air filter for my G and got a brochure from them which had a synthetic oil and filter which is good for one year. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with this and opinions. I hate having a wrench monkey touch my car every 3 months or touch it Period. I figure it'll save some cash and having to take it to a shop. and a one year interval is awesome, but i dont want to hurt the G.

After looking at my oil after 3 months, I would never go longer without a change.

If you want to be really safe:

Switch to the Amsoil synthetic, then get your oil analyzed after you would normally change it. If the analysis comes back good, you can run the oil longer, if it comes back bad, you know your drain interval.

As for the filters, they are top notch and all the oil analysis reports indicate that they do in fact last the advertised 1yr or 25k miles when used with Amsoil synthetic oil. The reason the filter might not last as long if used with another type of oil is because of the acids that might build up in the oil and not get neutralized.

For example, on my g35 I change the oil every 7500 miles simply because I already have the car up on jack stands to rotate the tires. Draining & refilling with fresh oil isn't really that big of a deal since all I have to do is pull a plug.

I've attached my latest used oil analysis report which is excellent except for copper, which is coming from the oil cooler and is not a result of wear. I this sample I was using the Amsoil AMO 10w40 and an Amsoil EA012 oil filter. I change the oil filter every 15k along with my oem intake air filter.

Bythebay is right, you have to get a UOA done before using the Amsoil longer than 7000 miles in my opinion, I do 6000 mile changes with Amsoil. I have used the TSO 0w-30 and the ATM 0w-30 with excellent UOA results. I only use Amsoil and Mobil 1 oil filters.

the concern I have with extended oil change intervals is the filter itself... I have no doubt the oil will last a long, long time... but I simply do not trust any filter to never fail for extended periods... it's an expensive and sometimes detrimental proposition if failure occurs. I'd rather spend a few bucks a few times per year and have limited (or no) concerns.
