Question for tiresmoke or g35papa or anyone who knows about side mirrors
I'm getting some of my car painted and I wondering about the part that connects to the side view mirrors. Do you know if they took of the the whole side view mirrors and paint it the triangle part or did they paint it with the sied mirror still on? I ask because the paint shop called me today and said they wouldnt be able to paint it because the wires and everything where all attacked together so I just want to clarify and make sure thanks!

I took the mirrors off myself and brought them to the shop. I left the mirror attatched to the base. The wiring harness plug prevents the two parts from being seperated. It can be done but no real need. The paint shop worked around it.
Taking the door panel off to get to the 4 screws (I think it was 4) is easy. Then unplug the mirror.
PM me if you need help with it. I can help walk you through removing them.

they painted mine while still on, what you should be more concerned about is that you need to make sure that your paint shop uses a very good adhesive promoter before they put on the paint. This is the one mine used.

haha i think the pic is actual size, but yea ill go check what there using its going into tommorow but i went over there today and took of the mirrors and they said it'd be no problem for them to paint it
most shops have warrantys so its there problem if if peels. Ask before you bring them. Dont have them painted on car! You will def have an adhesion problem you gotta scuff whole area and on the car you cannot. Adhesion promoter is more for a new oem cover than for a plastic on a mirror. But yes the "book" will say yes. A good scuff, cleaning, and a sealer is all i would do.
