Why would the dealership do this??

I just got home from picking my car up from the dealership. Took it in for a servicing that included tire rotation. I clearly told them (and they should have been able to see) that I have Coupe 19s on my sedan so you can't rotate them.

When I got home I inspected my car as I usually do after its been at the dealer. I noticed that a tiny scratch that was on my back tire was now on my front tire! I am running 245/40/19 tires front and rear, so I guess this confused them. But obviously they should be able to tell that they are Coupe 19s and they shouldn't be rotated.

Will I have any issues with this driving around tomorrow morning? I have to drive about 100 miles in the morning before I can take it to the dealer in the afternoon to have them fix this.

I'm so upset right now, it seems like they always screw something up!!

it might be safe enough. If it drives straight and you can turn the wheels each way with the tires not rubbing you should ok for a little bit. I bet the wheels stick out badly up front.
On a side note, I had my G serviced today and they did a good job. They even mentioned I should get a wheel alignment soon because the inner part of the front tires where wearing more than the outside. I already knew this and I already had the wheels aligned...I just haven't replaced the tires yet.

Good Luck!

Did you rub at all in the front on your way home? If not you should be ok until they put them back.

I did not hear any rubbing, but I wasn't listening for it either. I just don't want to get stuck 50 miles from my house tomorrow. I may have to borrow the wife's car.

Good idea borrowing the wifes car until you get the wheels switched back over consider it a lession learned you can't alway rely on the dealer to get it right every time point it out to them and maybe you'll get a couple free oil changes.

Dealerships........?

Why do dealerships do anything when you ask them not to? How many posts
have you read about not washing your car? Most good mechanics won't work
for dealerships, they open there own shops.....bottom line "it is what it is!"
I'd get in the service writers face tomarrow......enjoy.

So

I guess taking 30 mins out of your busy day to do it yourself and forgetting about it is out of the question? You'd rather take the time and gas money to drive back, and raise your blood pressure just to make a point that they'll forget about the second you leave. Seems like added stress to me, do it yourself.

No they didn't. I took it in for a 37.5K servicing, Level 1 Servicing I believe, and they quoted me the standard charge minus $30 for my prepaid oil changes. When I go to pick the car up the guy says "no charge"? I ask him why and he says that its all covered under what I prepaid for when I bought the car. The only thing I prepaid were oil changes, so they gave me the entire servicing for free!!??

I live in a condo building and don't have a car jack, so I can't do it myself, otherwise I would just take care of it.

To be fair, the 245s all around may have thrown off the tech. And while I know that its easy for those with sharp eyes to pick out the '05-'06 Sedan Sport 18s from the forged Rays Coupe 19s, at a quick glance they look somewhat similar. And since the Sedan wheels are the same width all around, the tech was probably a bit careless and rotated them thinking they were Sedan 18s.

look at the invoice to see what they actually did. I can't believe how much of the regular maint is simply "inspection".. which translates into opportunity to upsell you actual work.

The 15k service is an absolute joke. It should simply be called an oil change.

If they messed up your tires, who cares.. they owe you new ones! Get some of the $4k or so in glad money that Infiniti assigns to each of our cars to make us happy.

No offense, but it's funny to me that someone would have to take their car back to a dealership to rotate the tires. It only takes some minor tools, a jack, and a couple minutes. Hell if you don't have those tools everything you need is in the trunk of your car. I'm and girl and I'll be damned if I take my G to the dealership for a tire rotation. Not trying to be mean, just my two cents....Good luck!

he just said he lives in a condo with no jack. even with a jack, most condos wont allow for mechanical work to take place on their property. take it to the nearest empty parking lot and rotate tires, NOW! lol
