Transmission hissing sound
Transmission hissing sound
The other night I noticed a hissing sound when I put the transmission in 1st and 2nd gear in the garage. The sound goes away in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Any idea of is causing the hissing sound? I am taking the car in next week and I am wondering if that is normal. Thanks.
As the weather got cold, I too notice a slight hissing sound in 1st and 2nd at higher RPM's, but only when I first start it after it's been sitting. Less than a minute later it goes away, so I haven't worried about it. Does yours eventually go away too? Anyway, curious to hear what your dealer has to say about it.
i've had teh same issues in colder weather, and my dealer was about to replace my tranny and clutch (tranny issue though, after reading other posts, has to do something with the synchros), after calling corporate. but they kept trying to push it off and ended doing more tests and said it was the rear diff. so they replaced that, but still didn't fix the sound. I told them i'll be back next winter with the same issue. . .winter is almost here! now my symptoms have grown where that my 5th gear grinds 50% of the time.
This is a AT. I noticed it while in my garage. When I manually shift into 1st and 2nd with my foot on the brake (not moving at all), I hear the hissing noise. It only occurs in 1st and 2nd and as soon as I shift to 3rd, it stops.
