Hello from a New CDN G35 driver - winters here - got snow tires?

hey guys, I browse the forums quite frequently, great people & info here.. Just wanted to introduce my self -
I drive an 04 G35 6MT sport sedan, purchased in August, all I can say is I have a huge smile every time I drive this baby! I was a little worried about how it would handle in our crazy southern Ontario winters.., So this post is for you guys who are concerned about winter and have not purchased winter tires yet! DO IT!

I woke up this morning to 5cms of snow on top of 1cm of ice - (freezing rain lastnite).. Timing is everything right? I did a lot of research on winter tires and went with Toyo Observe G-02+ on steelies (215/60/R16) yesterday.. All I can say is WOW, these tires along with the VDC + manual trans make the G stick to the ground! Many cars were stuck & I was blowing by SUVs!

Heres a pic of the G in the summer/winter - winter pic taken today

hi. i'm hailing from ottawa with 05 sedan. my father handed down the car to me and it was originally driven in BC so he did not opt for the AWD model.

I had alot of fear about driving in the winter as well because of the rear wheel drive. slapped on 4 Blizzak w60's this week (17 inch...tried to go with the 16 inch to save some $$ but the rims won't fit over the brakes!) and I'm crusing in snow just fine. so far so good and i hope it keeps up because i was going to trade in the car for a FWD/AWD car if it doesn't perform well in winter.

With a good set of winter rubber you have nothing to worry about as long as you don't get stupid but that goes for any car in the winter.

Welcome.
You won't have any trouble with those tires on your sedan. I'm starting my third winter here in Ottawa with Toyo Garit HT's on the same car.
You just have to avoid all the dough-heads on the road that think FWD is better than RWD for winter.

Completely normal. If you never see the slip light at all, you'll probably get passed at some point by some guy on his mountain bike.

hey man, I'm also from Ottawa, I have the same Toyos but using the 5spoke 17"s as rims. I tihnk I might have seen you around.

and yea with winters and the VDC you've got nothing to worry about. just don't take the VDC off unless you're in a parking lot having some fun (with no poles around)

First snow day here in Toronto, too, and so far i'm really pleased with the way my coupe handled on Blizzak LM-22's. Granted, I didn't push it at all (I was close to being passed by a mountain bike at one point), but since it was my first winter with the G and my first winter in nearly 20 years with a RWD car, I thought I'd go easy.

Looking forward to getting out somewhere isolated and playing a little.

I'll be up there for a week over Xmas. We should do a little snow mini-meet between Xmas and NY. Find a secluded parking lot after it snows...

yea i agree with everyone...i was at first worried about driving in toronto with a rwd car like the g35. But i purchased 215/55r17 Hankook Ipikes and my drive yesterday(1st snow fall) was perfect. I'm so impressed by the way the car handled and yea do drive slower.

I'm from canada as well, i have an 06 g35x ( its first time i'm driving it in the snow). The car handles great in the snow, as soon as the computer recognizes slipping it's corrected.

Last night was really cold, a warning light came on followed by a beeep (i didnt know what the hell it was, i was scareddd lol). I got home, checked the manual........ it was the low tire pressure indicator. lol
