Can AN 07/08 sport seat be fitted to an '06

Hello all- I'm new here and I'm hopeful that someone out there can help me. I'm considering the purchase of a G35x sedan, with no sunroof as I'm 6'5" tall, and need the sunroof deleted in order to accomodate my frame. I went to sit in an 07 with no roof, and fit ok except for 2 problems:
1-The side of my head is only a few inches from the drivers side "frame" of the car(where the top of the door meets the roof of the car, when door is closed)
2-I'm putting in an aftermarket nav system, and the dash configuration is'nt really "aftermarket-friendly" SO.......
I looked at an 06, and the dash looks to be much easier to install an aftermarket system in, AND the car appears to be 'squarer' that is, not as rounded at the top and probably affording me more "side of the head headroom" (i've not sat in an 06 sans roof, only looked at pictures.) The car salesman with whom I spoke over the phone assures me that the 06 has more "side of the head headroom", but i think he'll say whatever I want to hear to get me in a car. Here are my questions, and any help would be very much appretiated:

1- Can the sport seat in an 07/08 be retrofitted to an 05/06 WITHOUT CHANGING THE FACTORY RAILS ON WHICH THE SEAT RESTS?

2- Is there a substantial difference between the 06 and the 07+ insofar as their safety ratings and quality of ride. I'm using this as a work car, on which I'm gonna put 50k-70k miles a year, so by the time that I go to sell it, it's not gonna be worth anything anyway, so if there's no substantial difference between the years, I'd just as soon get a cheaper one.

3- Has anyone had any problems or issues putting in an aftermarket stereo/nav system. I currently have the pioneer avic , which I love, but am considering switching to the new Alpine nav.

Sorry this post was so long, but I wanna look before I leap. Thanks again for any help or advice you may be able to offer.

I'm not sure if the new sedan seats can go in the older ones or not. I would bet there will at least be wiring changes. I have 06' coupe seats in my car which still required some wiring changes. They sit lower so that is another option for you.

Your AVIC will go in the 06 with the JDM double-din kit and A/C controls. Check out the link in my signature for pics of an Eclipse DD installed. OEM parts so the install looks great.

07 Journey seat fitted into an 06. They bolt right up, but will require some wire splicing.

Directions
- Remove OEM Seat and place next to 07 seat
- Remove rails with Socket/Wrench Set
- Place OEM Rails and 07 rails side by side
- Trim off the excess steel with Jigsaw from the OEM rails so that they match the 07 rails as closely as possible
- Grind out the gritty steel with dremel

- Line up OEM rail to 07 seat
- Drill the appropriate holes so that the 07 bolts fit the OEM Rails
- Attach

- Solder/tap/ rail wire (a blue and white one) to the 07 seat wire (also blue and white). This wire adjusts fwd and bkwd movement.

- Every other wire plugs right in!

- Use washers on passanger side seat to chassis bolts so that the seat is level. I used 5 on both the right hand side bolts.
Without the washers, the seat will sit like \

with this setup, I retained at least 90-95% of the seats maneuverability. Even so, the 07 seat still moves further back, further up/down right left than my 05 seat.

no...it isnt the sport seat. the price for the new seat was sooooooooo cheap that I just had to take it regardless. When we find a sport seat I will swap out the drivers side

Edit

Then why did he say this:

Sounds like it is more than a bolt right up...

took two evenings to modify/cut/drill each rail to fit the chassis.

memory function included in seat so no issues there. little wiring required

having some issues with SRS right now

A New Issue

Thanks a lot to all of you who responded to my post- you make a new guy feel welcome. I went today to sit in an 06 and it had the same ammount of "side of the head headroom" and less legroom than the 07/08, so I guess I'm stuck with the newer car. So now I've two new questions:

1) Does anyone out there know of an 07/08 G35x ( NO SUNROOF!!!) car for sale, PREFERABLY WITH THE SPORT SEATS????? and

2) Anyone have any single or double din aftermarket stereo/nav systems installed in an 07+? If so, any pictures? Also, any problems or issues with the install? Placement and spacing of the controls in the dash make it look very "installer-unfriendly" for adding an aftermarket unit, especially a double-din. Looks especially difficult if you have the wood dash.

Again, any help would be appretiated. Thanks Mike

If you need more headroom, there's a bolt you can adjust on the 03-06 seat to gain about 1.5" of headroom. I did it to my 03 and I love it. I'm sitting quite a bit lower. Lower center of gravity for the car too

Do a search and you'll find the topic.
