New guy, from Dallas!

Hi everyone,

I'm picking up my first G35 on Monday. Its an '03 silver sedan w/sport package and 6spd. I've had LOTS of cars, including a 95 Q45, 91 sentra se-r, and a 99 maxima se from the Nissan family.

I turned 30 in November, and I wanted something quick and comfortable. I also am a modifier, so I will be changing lots of stuff on the car. I work as an moblie electronics installer for Car Toys in Plano, TX.

I'm buying the car with worn rear tires and the front could use replacement as well. I was thinking about trying to get new wheels at the same time. What do you guys think about this setup:

-Brian

btw: I most likely won't be posting anything for quite some time. There is soooo much to read on this site that I'll be searching and reading for months.

Welcome to the forum. If you are going to put out the money to get new wheels, why not do it right and get at least 19's or 20's? I'd hate to see you get 18's and then decide in a year that you want to go bigger.

Chrisg_101, I'm not a cowboys fan. Funny YOU should mention it, since I'm from where you live. I grew up in Durham.

GixxerSteve, I don't usually like to go bigger than the widest tire that fits the larger wheel. I'm not sure if that made sense. Basically, if I can run a 275 tire on a 18x9.5 wheel, why go to a 19" or bigger. I know most people do it for looks, and I agree 19+ looks good...but I think its a waste for me at least.

GET THEM! That's a good price for the OZs I been looking at rims for 2 years and I've always liked those only complaint i had was the size I prefer at least 19" and they cost a lot more when you go over 18"

Hello and welcome

I had a friend who almost came to work at Car Toys a few years back.

Congrats on your sedan!

Do you guys think I should wait for some newer G35 19's? I like the idea of factory looking wheels, but I don't want to pay $2000 for them...

If you like factory wheels the oem 19" forged coupe wheels made by Rays are one of my fav. They are light, nice looking and very strong. I have a set as spare wheels. 8" front and 8.5" rear.

Wow, those look great on your car! Don't the 19's have an issue with rubbing on the '03 sedans? I love the look, but I definitely don't want to mess up the handling...

I think I really like the O-Z wheels though. I like the idea of running a 275 rear tire. Any problems running a 245/45/18 and 275/40/18? In case you didn't see the ebay link the offsets are: front 40 and rear 59.

Geezy, read my response about the 03 sedan here ----> https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-tires/191297-rim-sizes-do-19inch-coupe-rims-damage-sedan.html
I have the coupe 19's and love them. Most people don't rub unless you go with an oversized tire. And it handles good too. I don't think all of us (especially ttrank) would run the coupe 19's if they f'ed up the handling. I got my set of coupe 19's (excellent condition) from another forum member for $850.

Busted!

I didn't put my locks on because those were just on the car to break in the pads/rotors.
