I just got a 2003 g35 sedan, I dont know much about wheels to be completely honest and I want to get some bigger rims for my car (at the moment I have the stock 17s by 7.5 i think). I like the look of the coupe 19 inch factory wheels but it seems that they are wider(8.5 i believe), when I was looking at the website for the new 07 sedan an option is to get the 18s that are 7.5 in the front 8.5 in the back so I am guessing having wider wheels in the back does not do any damage but is it ok to have anything wider that 7.5 in the front? basically I want to know what size rims I can put on a 2003 sedan? do bigger wider rims do any damage to the car? is there max width? do the front ones need to be thinner?

I have a 2003 sedan with the coupe 19-inch wheels and stock suspension. Because the coupe wheels are wider than the stock sedan wheels (8.0 inch front, 8.5 inch rear), they will stick out further and be close to flush with the fenders. This doesn't create any problems, but you have to go with slightly smaller overall diameter tires to keep from rubbing the rear fenders. I originally went with a 255/40-19 on the rear, but the fenders rubbed over speedbumps. So I changed the rears to 255/35-19 and it doesn't rub at all. Some people go with the 245/40-19 on the rear and then just roll the fenders to make it work, but I'd rather no bend anything that isn't necessary.
As for the front, I originally mounted 245/40-19s and they worked good, no rubbing at all, plenty of clearance. But because I went from a 40 series tire in the rear to a 35 series, I changed the front to a 245/35-19 and it works fine. You have several options as I see them:
225/40-19 front
245/40-19 rear with rolled fenders
225/40-19 front
255/35-19 rear
235/40-19 front
245/40-19 rear with rolled fenders
245/40-19 front and rear with rolled fenders

245/35-19 front
255/35-19 rear

I have had 8.5" wheels on the front of my car since a few days after I got it.
One good idea is to upgrade your power steering cooler. I got one that is the same size and specs as the nismo one for ~$35. The extra weight and drag from the wider tires can put extra wear on your PS system so keeping the heat down is helpful.

My setup:
245/40/19 F&R without rolled fenders, lowered on Eibach Pro Kit (1.1" F&R drop).
I was actually surprised that I don't rub with this setup because many people do with a 40 series tire when they lower their car. If you do plan on 40 series it would be wise to also plan to roll the fenders as it is a possibility you'll rub. Or better yet just go with the 35 series tire to avoid rubbing.
Coupe wheels on the sedan look great, go for it!

I just put on the M45 sport rims with 245 35 19's all round. I have a inside clip on wheel weight hitting something in the left front when I make a hard left hander. I have some 5mm spacers coming that should take care of it.

Coupe 19's on sedans.....!
My daughter has a set on her G35 sedan from an '06 coupe. They not only
fit but look great toooo! There's a few sets for sale on our Marketplace...

I had the 19" Coupe wheels for awhile dropped on 350z suspension. I only rubbed on huge dips and only on the passanger side for some reason.
