heat / vent problem

I always found the hvac system in my car lacking. At least to my old 1992 maxima. so I try to find ways to get better performance. ie.. I have auto climate control and I shut off the pass side when I'm alone. Seems to help. When I want more fan power, I'll just flow air though the top vs feet and vice versa.

Question. When I do just the feet vents, I can still feel air though the upper left dash vent. Just left of the steering wheel. I can shut it down and notice more air down low.

Anyone else notice this? Live with it or is there a fix?

I guess I hope it's normal so that would mean nothing's wrong the car. But the fan power sucks. It's better on the 05 sedans

I haven't noticed any problems in my '04. I am usually turning the heat down after a few minutes because I get hot. It's the same way in the summer. I am continually turning up the temperature because it gets so cold.

I assume the outer vents keep air flowing across your glass. You wouldn't want your windows to fog up

I mean the left upper interior vent next to the steering wheel. Not the defrost vent

I have the same issue with my coupe. It feels like the air that flows from there is also cooler air than the temperature established

I checked mine this morning and both the left and right vents you are talking about are on with the floor heater going. It's probably a way to keep the front windows from fogging, but I don't really know.

I generally keep mine in Auto mode except for the rare occasion that my window needs to be defrosted.

Interesting question, I'm going to pay more attention to what mine's doing. Agreed, though, the HVAC seems a little weak, especially the defrost, I've had some trouble getting/keeping the windshield clear on very cold mornings.
