I thought about leaving a sliver of current blink, but for safety reason and because I'm not 100% happy with the way that looks, I'm trying this.

BTW, originally posted I'm keeping it a secret, but I figured if anyone else has thought of doing this at least they know it's being attempted and can wait and see if it works.
I've recently done a taillight mod...different from yours where I used a 5 pin relay to interrupt one signal and apply another. I think all you need is that same relay where you can use ur turn signal power to intermittently interrupt the running LED lights when the turn signal is initiated. If that route would work then it's relatively an easy and inexpensive mod.Check out my CARDOMAIN for taillight mod. I was trying to post a video but it was too large.

I tried something like that with my tails and could not get it to work.

The circuit inside the tails are looking for more than just 12V to make them work like the blinkers are.

How much do the LEDs require? Wait I misunderstood.... he wants the LED tails to blink bright like the brake while signaling, is that right?

Yes,

He (and I) want the brake lights to be the turn signals and brake lights. So we need the turn signals to flash the brake lights when the brakes are off and take away the brake signal away when the brakes are on to make them become the turn signals. The issue is I have not been able to light the brake lights with any basic external signal.

Sounds like you need an external module that will control the intermittent blinking, it's own fuse box ( that will allow more current for a brighter light) connnected to the battery and splice it to the brake light wiring. Talk to Kevin from KP tech. He helped me with my mod.

I already PMd him... he was concerned about the legality - I research the hell out of CVC and its not illegal... he said "it can probably be done", but basically left it at that... I'm taken the car to an electrical place later this week/early next week (have a hwy patrol audit to prepare for at work for the next few days)...
