That is way to much money especially if the navi disc is missing. Look around before purchasing I'm sure you can find a sedan for 14k with 40k in mileage

That's just the kind of driving that is hardest on a car. The motor and exhaust system never have time to get really warmed up. The oil stays full of acids and moisture, the exhaust is full of water and never drys out. You MUST take a care out at least once a week and drive it at least 30 minutes at highway speeds.

I say screw looking at the mileage.. it's all about how the car drives / performs.

What to look for? Look for another G with less miles.

I guess the last 2 post say what I am getting at. If a car does not get used well then not being used is often worse for it. Likewise , I agree, it is not the mileage , it is the car/price that counts. I will have 100K on my G by the time it is 2 years old and 150K when it is 3. This car will still be in better shape than many of the G's on this forum. I maintain the crapout of the car, drive it like a human, and frequently do 300-400 mile highway trips with almost no traffic/ congestion(yesterday I traveled almost 600 miles!).

Anyway, I agree that low mileage is not always better. When we were looking at a cheap car for my college-student brother, we settled on a 96 Camry with 105K miles because it was in very good shape. By comparison, several other cars that were newer with lower mileage were in terrible shape--Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas, the works.... It's all in how the car was driven and maintained.... But if you can get a good low mileage car for cheaper than the high-mileage one, why not?

All you guys saying look for a G w/ less miles. What are you saying about your own car when it reaches that 115k mileage? I highly suspect, you guys won't be saying the same thing when it comes time to sell your car right?

Why exactly? As long as the price reflects the mileage and the car is in good shape, you statements are baseless.

thanks for the replies guys. Yea there are cheap, lower mileage Gs but they come at the expense of loosing some of the options, or going into the 03-04 range. I like the 05+s as they have more power, and the interior seems substantially better. i also just moved to SoCal and am hopelessly lost in the maze of freeways, so I really want/need the nav system. I have several friends with factory nav systems and like how they are integrated with the car as opposed to a standalone unit like a garmin. I am still looking for some lower mileage G's. I will drive them so i can compare the 2 and decide whether the additional cost is worth it to have less miles.

That being said, have some of the higher mileage G35s on this forums been having any major problems or have they largely been trouble free?

Check on ebay, this place called Danahoo autos or somthing. Im looking at 05s right now, for me, with 30k miles for 21,700

Umm dude... Civics != G's ... (!= == not equal to... for all ya non nerds out there).... but anyways... chk the tranny... brakes... do a compression test... if all that is chill... and the suspension look ok... you should be chill... but personally i would NEVER buy a car w/ that many miles on it....ESP if its a 6spd

It probably has the original airfilter, and tranny fluid and heck, do you have oil
change records........there should be 30-35 oil change receipts or records.

I say move on to another one if service can NOT be demonstrated.

Get all the maintenance records. If you find that the prior owner kept up with the oil changes (best if they used Synthetic) and scheduled maintance form the dealership then all should be well. I'm closing in on 80K miles on my 06 and my car runs like a champ - I'm planning on taking her to 250k.

^ Wow, 80K miles on an '06?? That's the most I've heard on an '06/'07 vehicle. I'm guessing you make a lot of highway trips?
