Strange smell after WOT

Strange smell after WOT
I've been noticing that if I was just out driving my G hard, there is a strange burning odor once I turn off the car. You can smell it from about 10 or 15 ft away. The car has almost 7000 miles on it, and the dealer says it is a normal smell.
We also own an I30t, which also uses the VQ (3.0L) and we never had this smell.
Can anyone help?

Re: Strange smell after WOT
Dan after hard driving, you're going to get some hot 'smells'. I take it this is abnormal?
Start looking for something touching exhausts. Those would be the most likely source, especially the 'cats'.
Something may be loose, or been dropped onto the pipes.(tools, rag)
Could there be something on the engine cover touching a pipe?
How about the engine cover itself? Loose, broken, bent???
What about spilled fluids say from an oil change? Even a little will drip down and touch a hot exhaust and smell. Oil filler cap on securely?
What about leaks? Any telltale signs? These can smell when burned.
If you do a search, you'll find some more ideas.
Maybe the shop is right-- It's normal. Good luck
