I own an 03 doggy door edition lol. I love it. However, there are going to be plenty of biased reviews on here. If you want to hear opinions, this is the place to be. But, I will provide my opinion and take of these years

I curently am driving an 05x right now for a loaner. Interior is much nicer and up to date. Interior gauge cluster is nicer and modern. Shift ****/console is great. However, thats all I find appealing to the 05/06's. Of course the tails are awesome and updated headlights. Also, got rid of the plastic around the bottom. That's always a plus, however, I feel it's just ehh.

I own an 03 and would prefer driving it over an 05/06. Nicer feel and lines are sharper (as someone said.. 05/06's are more round). and 03/04 with a nismo kit 05/06 tails/rims/ and a subtle drop is more clean aggressive looking.

If I had the choice, I would have gone with the 04, only because of the no doggy door (which I have grown to like actually... i know weird lol).

After driving the different models/years, I find no difference in HP gains or anything. All feel the same (except x models, feel slower and heavier due to the awd).

My advice to you. Go with the newest car w/ fewest miles. It may be a little more in $$, but you want the best deal for you moola. Plus, you could still find one under warrenty if you search around.

all g's are fantastic cars. you can't go wrong with any year you choose. Just pick what you can afford and look for the best deal. Hope this helped

Here is my $0.02

2003 = Doggy door, older ECU and mech fan.
Otherwise it is about the same as the 2003.5 and 2004 which have the flat trunk, same ECU as the coupe and Z and an electric fan.

2005/2006 = Revised interior with stainless center, new clock location, and just minor touches here and there. The 6MT now comes with the rev-up motor which has 18 more hp and 10 less ft-lbs of torque. 5AT still comes with the same motor but is now rated at 280/280. The rev-up does have oil consumption issues and there is even a TSB for it now where they will replace your motor if it gets too bad.

I like the titanium look dash better because it wraps around where the stainless on the newer ones is just a snap in center part which looks cheaper to me. Just my opinion.

The Nismo was the only choice for a long time and is still one of the best looking optional fronts. Plus it is urethane which will do a lot better than fiberglass over time. (just don't hit a raccoon!)

Soon there will be the bumper Rookie's body shop is making for the 03-06's (Kuruma Z style). So the 05/06 have an option other than lips. The 03/04 have had a number of others for a while.

The new front end and painted side/rear sills on the 05/06 was a huge improvement. It looked more like the coupe's front end. The nismo is the best of that style but will cost you ~$900 for the front end or ~$1900 for the full kit. The nismo sides are a lot like the oem sides but lower. The rear valance is very clean and nice to complete the package.

I'm not a fan of the newer headlights. The changes are subtle but enough to make me like the older ones better. To be honest I didn't like either of them and that's why I did the halos, paint, and quad projector retro. Now I like them.

Additionally, Pre 04 AT had side mounted button on shifter, 04 went to front trigger… 04.5 & later got different TCU in tranny (previous were outside) – it is speculated that ECU has gone through different incarnations…

The 03-04 sports had that nice wheel design to, along with a spoiler.

Tim, I was under the impression that all '03 and '03.5 have the mechanical fan? My '03.5 sedan has the mechanical fan, and I believe Infiniti started putting the electric fan with the '04. Correct me if I'm wrong

Bluetooth phone comes with premium package on an 06'. Different sat radio antenna. (I know I am forgetting a few things, but anyway... minor differences)

Yeah, but it's not real easy. It will take about $200 to $300 and a little mechanical know-how. Years ago, DaveO pioneered this mod and you can probably find partial DIY for the project. People swear up and down that the e-fan converision is good for up to 10whp (including DaveO), but the only dyno we have to go off of was done a couple years back and the numbers were inconclusive. If someone could show me a before and after dyno showing a gain of even 5whp, I'd do the mod. I think the reason so many people think this mod would be good for a decent amount of power is because the fan-clutch drains power. However, the fan on the G35 is not engaged all the time and it's relatively light therefore there's not a huge amount of parasitic loss like say a truck fan would have.
