wierd noise on my 06 sedan and the loaner!

I just dropped off my 06 sedan to get some routine maintenance done and I noticed that the loaner I got, also and 06 sedan, makes the same weird noise.

The noise comes from the steering wheel and I would describe it as a continuous popping/squeaking sound that comes from inside the steering wheel as you drive and it doesn't matter if you are turning or not. I've moved the tilt back and forth, and toward and away from the driver seat and that's not the cause. I thought it was just my car, but now that i've heard it on a loaner I'm thinking that I may not be the only one.

Not positive if it is the same, but sometimes I hear a little noise in the same area, i will adjust the steering column(tilt) and reset to a slighlty in a different position and it seems to be gone!

i have a popping/clicking noise that comes from the steering wheel whenever I turn the wheel, but when driving I dont hear it or notice it. I only notice the noise when Im backing out of my driveway when I turn the wheel all the way to the right or left. I have an 05 though.

well apparently i'm not alone even if some of of you all are have slightly different noises. I'll try readjusting the tilt and all and see if that helps.

A couple of months ago I complained about it to the service rep at my local stealership and they "checked the steering trim" and said it was fine.

I have an 05 as well, and my symptons sound exactly as what radioguy21 described. I had the dealer take a look at it....they said it was a cable or something inside. As above, it only makes this noise when moving for the first time so it's not that annoying. Also goes to prove that dealers talk smack: guess the cable suddenly quiets down after I back out of my driveway

I also heard this today for the first time on my '06 g. Has anyone successfully gotten this repaired by service?

I'm still dealing with it. It seems to be worse the hotter it is outside. That makes sense though because it sounds like plastic rubbing against itself. I'm tempted to take all the plastic pieces off around the wheel and do a more thorough check.
