Don't even think about trying it without a good broadband connection. The files total to about 110Mb.

For $20 beans you get a one day "online viewing subscription". You can't download the complete manual. If you begin to download some of the pdf files, the site recognizes this and you will find other pdfs blocked. I rec'd an email from the site admin explaining the online subscription is "VIEWING ONLY". I am curious if the same pdf files are blocked for everyone.

If this is true, then it is new. When you "view" a pdf file, you are really downloading it locally, so I don't know how the site distinguishes the difference. I do recall that the site was not particularly stable or reliable. It crashed on me several times during the course of a day.

I'm still not following you. What caused you to get an email from Infiniti in the first place? Did you actually download any of the several dozen pdf files? If so, what files do not work for you?

I don't see how they could stop you. Your browser has to download the file to view it. It'll be in your cache. It seems like they may have taken steps to stop the "$20 manual" trick.

 

noremac - yes, and when certain pdf files became unreadable, I emailed the site admin to report a "problem" viewing some files and rec'd the above reply saying they are altered purposefully if the pdf files are saved to your local drive.

ryoken - when the pdf is altered, there is nothing to view - only a scrambled section cover with no section pages, therefore nothing to view or download or save locally.

So it appears you have the ability to actually download (and save) a handful of files locally before being blocked, but push the limit and you will shut yourself out from further viewing. If it's supposed to be view-only, why they don't just make them read-only and non-savable is beyond me. It's almost like a bait and switch where they dangle the carrot and, when you take it, they deliver the coup d' grace. I'm sure someone gets their jollies off every time this happens. I'll take my medicine, but others be warned.
