G35 Sedan Clock

Am I the only one that finds the analog clocks in our sedans annoyingly dim?? I have an all black interior and the face of the clock is also black. At night, The glow around the clock barely lights the thing up.

I'm thinking about getting my hands on a white one and replacing it. Does this sound feasible? Guys and Gals, any thoughts on this one??

Thanks in advance

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

You can also take it into your local dealer and have it replaced with a "more visable" clock. Theres a service bulletin for the replacement so it would cost you NOTHING, ZIP, ZILCH

I had mine done, not a huge difference but a noticable difference. Bigger hr and min hands.

Good luck

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

How about replacing it with a different color light bulb?
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi...es/03065-1.gif

If you look at the service bulletin, you can get white or white with a blue cap (for the Q45). It looks as though the bulbs should fit. Maybe I can order some and try them??

My $.02
If your clock is too bright, you'll notice it reflecting in your windshield whenever you are driving at night. This is the reason why I do not want a brighter clock.

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

if cranking up the interior lights a little won't help, then maybe the larger clock hands from the TSB would be a cost-free, easier choice. if you decide to get a white one, could you please post pics? thanks.

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

You're very right! Driving on a dark road, many times the clock reflection on the windshield causes me to react as if something outside has crossed my path. I'm glad it's not brighter

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

After I saw those clunky, ugly, aluminum looking hands they put in as replacements I wasn't at all interested in getting my clock replaced. I will just squint at my nice, sleek, chrome plated clock hands and grin.

LOL, so it's like that Big Button Phone then, and the large type books they sell!
I like my clock just the way it is, that was one small feature I really liked about the G!

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

GeeSpot and g35girl,

Have either of you actually seen the clock in person? If no, then you perhaps should. I couldn't stand looking at the needle-like hands and dim lighting so I had mine replaced. Now I'm very glad I did.

Re: G35 Sedan Clock

Yes, I have seen both clocks. I have the old style clock in my very own G35 sedan. All the loaners I get have the new clunky looking hands on them - I detest them....they have no grace or class. I can read mine just fine when I turn the interior lighting rheostat most of the way up. I think new hands was a poor solution. They just should have put in a slightly brighter bulb.

I am glad that you are happy with your decision to get the newer clock. I am much happier with the original.

"Have either of you actually seen the clock in person?"

johnzg35... ummm yes, i have seen the clock in person. i don't have trouble seeing it at night/day and i like the smaller, chrome-like needles of the original one better.

"have the new clunky looking hands on them - I detest them....they have no grace or class"

agreed. and to each his/her own.
