Future Sedan Owner (Possibly)

There is a good chance of me getting a 2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan in the near future, so I thought I would swing by these forums and post, as I have been reading them for a while. Just wanted to hear what you guys recommend for options. I am thinking about going with black (or twilight blue) exterior, graphite leather interior, and the premium/navigation packages. I'm definitely going to get it in Automatic without an Aero kit since, well, it's my first car and I am lucky enough that my father will foot part of the bill for me. Plus I have no experience in manual and I don't plan on racing .

So, thats about it. Let me know what you think and if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them. Perhaps it is something I overlooked .

Thanks!

both color choices are purrrrty. on the high maintenance side, but beautiful. the premium pack is probably the most popular and comes with stuff that is really handy. navi is a big bonus. have fun G shopping!

Re: Future Sedan Owner (Possibly)

the manual is a wonderful car to learn. Automatic tranny's are for drag racing, btw.

get the manual, you will love it. you can go play on twisty roads and actually drive.

NOW if this is a a commuter car first and a fun car second, the automatic will be the way to go.

BUT nobody has bought a manual and regretted it. several people have bought autos and wished they bought manual

I have the Twilight Blue sedan 5AT like you want, but no
Premimum Package. My only regret is that I don't have the
Sport Tuned Suspension or the Premimum Package. I also
wish I had the 6 speed Manual Transmission. I bought mine
used, it was the only used one on the lot, so I had no choice.
Looking back on my purchase, I wish I had bought new with
all the goodies that I really wanted. But I'm just a cheap
Mu%^& F*&ker. I would suggest getting the Premimum Package
and the Sport Tuned Suspension at least if you don't want
the Manual Transmission.

Re: Future Sedan Owner (Possibly)

Thanks for all the responses.

I am considering manual, but I am not sure. The car is a commuter car and a fun car. I am turning 17 in May, so figure whatever a teen would do with a car, I will do (drive to school, work, friends around, etc.). I figure that while I don't really have much of a commute, I am not buying this car to race or as a toy as much as I am buying it as a tool (a fun, cool tool :P). But then again, if I just needed a car I would be getting a civic or something... I want the G35 because overall it is just a hot car that looks fun to drive. So, I don't know.

I am still considering both though. I have never driven a manual, so I am not sure how hard it would be to learn. How did you guys do with your first manual?

learning manual is not difficult. you just need a patient teacher and someone willing to let you use their car. i learned in a day (college roommate taught me) and as a bonus, her sister went to england for the summer and i was given the keys to her mid-90s convertible RX-7. maybe learn to drive stick, practice, and then go test drive both auto/manual G. you have until may. good luck with your decision. you will be happy with either one!

Christine, wow this guy is lucky, my first car was a 55 DeSoto, I paid like $50 for, that's a bit different, LOL, but cool! Oh, and hey, our post numbers are almost the same, GFreaks, huh?

Nice parents and you sound like a nice kid too. My suggestion go buy a well used cheapie (10 yr old -> tercel, civic, cavalier etc) for a few hundred bucks with a 5 speed, spend 6 months learning to drive. Take a few dents, grate a few gears, hammer the clutch and then dump it and move onto your beautiful G - auto or MT and really appreciate a cool car, together with some experience to make you a better driver.

6MT Sedan - all options.

Re: Future Sedan Owner (Possibly)

I like the idea about the cheapie to get some experience in manual. Mind you, I am not unexperienced. Granted, you all are most definitely more experienced than I am, but I have been driving constantly for almost a year now (automatic cars). If I got a cheapie I would use it to learn manual, but I doubt that will happen, because there really isn't much more time until May and my parents aren't going to be into getting a whole other car just to practice on.

Knowing my dad he would make me practice in my G, and make it very clear that if I mess something up I have to deal with it :P

time to use your last lifeline... phone a friend (with an MT). much luck to you and i hope you don't have to practice on your G.
