I bought the HALOGEN hedalight unit on internet for 147 dollars and I WANT TO KNOW if i can install my ballast and wiring of the broken headlight on put it on the halogen headlight assembly and remove those halogen wires. I want to know becuz i dont want to spend 500 dollars on a HID headlight and i really want to know if some can tell me if its possiblle to use my wiring and ballast of my cracked one. PLEASE only respond with an answer of ir u know of a listing in craigslist or ebay for the 03 04 HID headlight assembly dont respond witha good luck or if ur not sure itf it will work but i should try it out cuz that doesnt help me or any1 else at all.

If your old ballast inst damaged you can reuse it. The reason those headlights are so expensive on ebay for 400-500 is because they come with a ballast and bulb. Which doesn't justify the price either (considering theres no projector involved) . If you know your ballast works then you can get a headlight for 100ish. Now in terms of the non hid and hid version of the headlights I personally don't think theres any difference other then one having a mount for the ballast, the reflection backing should be the same imo. Just remember to get d2r bulb and not d2s. In terms of wiring a ballast its just two wires not very difficult.

In terms of mounting position for the ballast I am not sure (but you can always mount it somewhere else. In terms of the slot for the bulb it will be different. What you can do though is buy a rebased hid bulb which will take care of that problem.

to be honest i don't know if the whole will fit for the bulb, i believe non-HID bulbs are h1, which are alot different than d2r's. but let us know if it does fit, so i can buy a pair of non-hid black housings.

You will not be able to fit D2R bulb as simple "plug and play" install. With some custom work it will fit, however performance of the headlight assembly may be poor and may create extra glare for oncoming traffic(and tickets for you) due to different focal lenghts(distance between base of the bulb and "hot spot") of halogen and D2R bulbs.
I used D2R in the past in H7 bulb housing(with custom work)in different car. It was more or less OK. So it is "hit and miss" project.
