So you have to pour distilled water into all 6 holes? Also, to get the plugs out do you just twist and pull or you have to use some tools to pull it out?

Who would've thought you DIDN'T need to? "Maintenance-free batteries" were a myth, and Infiniti wisely doesn't even pretend they are.

I think I'm going to replace mine next week or so with a Sears Die Hard Platinum... considering I'm running a 500w amp, I think I'm gunna need to toss that OEM battery sooner than later.

Only the holes where the water is low. Unscrew, counter clockwise and lift out by hand.

Distilled water if filtered differently (steamed) to remove the minerals you would find in sink and regular bottled water.

03.5 bought new and has 31k miles on it. Have run the battery down to zero a number of times at shows, it sat dormant at a shop for nearly 8 mos and gets about 30 miles a week on her.

Seems the battery should have give up with that type of treatment, but its doing fine. LOL... I never noticed that our batteries weren't maint. free. Guess I kinda assumed, since most of my previous cheaper riders were.

Gonna change it soon anyway, it's time I got a deep cycle one for shows and an lightweight optima for daily.

^I have a red top, fits fine but it is on the tight side. I don't know if there are any issues with the yellow top.

Just make sure you get the reverse post mounts (i.e 34r)

ttrank is correct - Southern Arizona is not kind to batteries. I change mine every 2 years - Period. When they go here, there is no warning - None.

Tap water and even bottled water contains mineral salts - usually iron, calcium, and manganese. The amount of these salts varies from place to place, but these "xtra" chemicals can play havoc with battery chemistry, and reduce battery life. Always use distilled water (which has all impurities and salts removed).
