Read your manual!

For those of you don't even know that your battery needs water, then you better check your coolant level and replace your brake fluid every 3 years! These are part of regular maintenence for almost any car. Brake fluid needs to be replaced every 3 years because the fluid absorbs moisture in the air. While you are at it, look up your tranny fluid replacement schedule also. An overhaul of tranny due negligence is costly!

I still am and I am around 83.5K miles. I think I might need a new one though , I keep getting a check engine code of P1614 and I heard that could be related to the battery

My battery is dated 8/2002 and I have about 52k on my 2003 G.
I am gonna go to Costco and try to get a battery there as i heard they have decent battery with 3 yr full warranty that meet the spec of the the G

~525CCA
~600CA

If someone bought their battery at Costco can they tell me the part number? Did you get it in the auto repair section?

i just filled my battery with distilled water the other night. I dont know the last time it was filled but it took about a quart of water total to top each cell off. I hope to have this battery last me at least through winter.

Good advice. My battery failed while on an out of town trip and it was not so much fun replacing it in the Autozone parking lot in 25 degree weather. It is a tight fit in the G.

If you got 5 years on your battery, consider yourself fortunate and start looking of a new one. Winter time is when it will crap out and it's the worst time of the year for it to do so. Problem with ours is that it requires a reverse terminal type. Not exactly as common as normal batteries. So better to replace on your terms vs the battery's.

I want with the Optima red top and it's been great. Search Optima in this section and you'll come up with the huge thread about it.

Dead battery

Mine crapped out within the first few months. My wife got stranded at the airport and the salesman came out and "jumped her". She was satisfied and they replaced the battery. Great service! Our neibor across the street came over and jumped her once to while I have never been jumped. I think we need to talk.
