Anyone on their original battery?
Anyone on their original battery consider that one tow charge will probably cost the same as a new battery? Unless you have AAA or something. But even then the hassle is not worth the effort to try to squeeze another few months out of it.
If you got 5 years on your battery, consider yourself fortunate and start looking of a new one. Winter time is when it will crap out and it's the worst time of the year for it to do so. Problem with ours is that it requires a reverse terminal type. Not exactly as common as normal batteries. So better to replace on your terms vs the battery's.
I want with the Optima red top and it's been great. Search Optima in this section and you'll come up with the huge thread about it.

Our G has Pos on left and Neg on right (when you are standing in front of car). My other car is a Sentra and the battery is positioned the same as the G35.
Mine crapped out a week after I bought it at 39K and just over three years old. There were no warning signs, just didn't start one morning. I temporarily replaced it with an Optima until I talked to the dealership and they gave me a new one for free.
Mine was on the stock battery and it was fine for the whole summer and fall, then it went into the shop and the sitting and short trips have killed it off. Optima will be going in come spring.
My 2005 battery died with almost no warning at 49,500 miles with 3 months left in the warranty. That morning it was slow to crank which I thought was odd, but it started and I quickly forgot about it. I was headed out of town at an important meeting with a client and had to meet them in front of the office building where we were meeting. They jumped into the car with me, and pointed me through a maze of twisty turns to get to the parking tower. They then used their pass to get me into a parking tower and the office building. After the meeting I got back to the car and it wouldn't start at all. My cell phone was almost dead too, the parking garage was unattended, I had no idea about the address or how to describe where I was to call roadside assistance and even if I knew I had no idea how to get them into the parking garage. I also had to park on top of the garage in a visitor spot so it was 95 degrees and I was dying of thirst and needed to pee. All the buildings connected to the garage required an ID badge to get back inside so. I had to make an embarrasing phone call to my client to come back out and find a way to jump start me.
Once the car was running I called the dealer who told me if I could make it across town in rush hour traffic in 30 minutes (impossible) they could see me. When I asked them to verify the battery was under warranty they told me it was prorated. So basically with 500 miles and 3 months left I'd end up paying full dealer price for a battery. I decided instead to drive 60 miles to an AutoZone near home and changed it in the parking lot. I was dumb enough to stop the car when I got there, and it wouldn't start again, so I didn't have much choice. They had a decent selection of loaner tools, so it wasn't bad. The worst part was all the tools were just loose in a big plastic box and it took forever to find the right size socket.
Yeah, proably more than you wanted to know...

Autozone, Duralast Gold Batterys, are the same thing as Die Hard Gold Battery just a bit cheaper.
Took like 2 min to remove what was needed to get to the battery and like 15 to install it lol.
My battery died at like 37k lol, who knows if original. My moms car battery went bad at 15k, LOL too bad its under the seat, we just jump it and its good to go till it wont start again which is like a few months later so screw paying like 300 bucks.

I bot my car used w/ 31k on it -- original battery was dead at the dealership. Replaced it with an Everstart Maxx from WalMart, I've had great luck with those. Starts like a champ even in -16F.
I also agree with those who caution against trying to squeeze every last drop out of a battery. They're like tires: you're gonna replace it sooner or later, so you're really not saving any money by trying to get that last 10% or so. And if you get stuck with a dead battery, you'll spend money getting unstuck plus pay as much (or more) for a last-minute battery purchase anyway.
