Re: mock z tube

Have you seen flexible aluminum vent pipe up close, and held it in your hands? It comes in a "compressed" length of about 3'. In its "compressed" state, the inside is very smooth. You can extend the pipe to about 8', make bends, even make a gentle loop-the-loop if you have to, and it won't kink. The inside of the pipe remains fairly smooth, even when formed into a curve. It wouldn't surprise me if flexible aluminum vent pipe causes less turbulence than white pvc/black abs pipe with white pvc/black abs fittings. Still, I prefer the OEM look of a z-pipe.

To each his own.

Re: mock z tube

nicely put bullseye and if the naysayers even bother to pick one up in their hands look at one, it actually kinda "spirals" in it's compressed or lenghten state...in fact, if he installed it in a way that the air spirals into the throttle, wouldn't it be that venturi effect?

side note, i used that aluminum tube for an intake mod for my 00 maxima and some folks have gotten a tenth or two knocked off their 1320.

Re: mock z tube

Sorry, but I find this modification is like slapping a set of Eagle Alloys on a Lamborghini Murcielago, in essence pretty gay.

Re: mock z tube

sorry for trying to do something myself. Some of you guys do think your driving a 100k car. Your not getting the concept just cause something costs more doesnt mean its better. I havent seen any loses in power. But to say the g is to good for something you buy at the hardware store doesnt make any sense. I also do my own oil changes. Is that bad too cause i dont go to the dealer and spend 60 bucks. I tried this mod out before i bought a z tube it worked. If it didnt i wouldnt have said anything. When I go on the maxima.org forum people give praise when someone tries something new or finds away to save money. Here some of you think your SH*T dont stink and pretend that the G is a status symbol. Yes my G is a very nice car but in no way am i rich. And most of you arent either because this car wouldnt be a weekend or only car but a daily driver. I know if I had the money I would be driving something alot nicer than a G which is Nissan. In closing all I am saying is this forum is meant to help people not ridicule them for trying to help.

Madabs: I will be the first to say my sh*t does stink and I am not rich. And, the G is a better POS Nissan. You are correct, that the forum is great for guys like you who try things, so others can have an option. I prefer OEM looking mods, so I could not see beyond that. Anyway, If your mod had created a HP gain, I probably would do it too. Yo, keep experimenting and let us know what happens.

madabs, i was on the maxima.org when i had me 00 5sp and you're right on about folks quick to reply on mods like yours.....i was kinda hesitant to post my stock airbox mod, but feel better now that a member(g35Mark) posted the pics for me......remember, car enthusiast enjoy tinkering with cars, others just want to come up with good lines.....pc

Re: mock z tube

Way to go! I have a K&N Typhoon int. sys. But, I looked for
a stock int. tube untill i gave in and bought the K&N. The JWT
Pop Charger can be had for a$110.oo del. A 350Z int. tube
is now going for near $100.oo. Someone had chrome int. tubes
del. for $30.oo, I looked for 4 to 6 weeks + ask for
help and never heard Jackchet from the good old boys. You
are the type member we need. keep up the good work.
I've had faster, more $ cars, and did my racing on the track.
Oh, my S--- stinks just like the Queens!

Re: mock z tube

I never implicated that the G was a status symbol, or that I was rich. I simply indicated that I wouldn't make my own intake. I wouldn't even do it on a $2000 car. More power to you if you did it to your own vehicle and you are satisfied with the results.
