Muffler opinions - Custom Sedan 3" exhaust

I am starting to put together the stuff to build a 3" exhaust for my g. I am planning on a aftermarket y pipe, and 3" stainless with mandrel bends. I have a line on a magnaflow glasspack type stainless muffler, which I was going to use as a resonator. But the big question is, what to use as a final muffler. I have heard lots of good stuff about magnaflow, but what about flowmaster, borla, or whatever? What do you all have, and what are the pro's and con's? I personally am leaning towards borla, because they have such a good reputation, but magnaflow seems to be up and coming, and their prices are very competitive.

Also, any downsides to a 3" exhaust with only a modified intake? I will be adding a MD 5/16 spacer before it goes on, and possibly a 2 degree timing bump. Thanks everbody!

Magnaflow is not up and comming, I have been using them for over 10 years!

I have them on my custom dual 3" system and are very happy with them.

Any reason you are having a custom 3" made instead of going with the Stillen or Borla?

Also I updated the title of your thread since this will need to get moved to the exhaust section down the line.

I just have a bad habit of building everything myself. I have access to all the equipment I need, and have built lots of exhaust systems and other goodies for my other cars. And of course, every $ I save means I can buy something else for the g. And I'm building a harley. And I'm married with a new baby. And I'm a D.I.Y. nut. Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming.

That's awesome. If you can DIY it is well worth it!

Post up some pics when you get done.

But as far as the mufflers go, I think Magnaflow makes good stuff for a good price.
