If the rust is due to rock chips or surface damage, they will probably tell you to get lost.

They should cover it, however, if you can show that it originated anywhere they seam the door panel.

Luckily I don't have any per my last looksee. I will check again. Seems like northern states with road salt use in winter along with non-garaged cars may be a cause.

If they can find an out, they will cover nothing. Specifically, the warrantee covers perforation due to rust - and that will take so long on most modern cars as to be irrelevant. The coverage therefore seems to be largely subjective. (Note: The early G35s have a special warrantee extension for rust in the doors).

In my instance, the rust originated in the seams of the doors and propagated through to the other side. Even so, the dealers argued and delayed for years. By the end I could have literally pushed my finger through some small parts of the door if I tried.
