Dyno My G

I have a 04 SeDaN AuTo no mods. It only has 4700 miles on it. HP: 213.4 TQ: 223.1
peak HP is around 5600 and TQ is 4600
I was expection around 220hp.
I hope with a Injen CAI, Borla exhaust, and race pipes I will be around 240hp.,
dont have a scanner so cant put the results up.

Ok, if you assume that the automatic has a drivetrain loss of approximately 20% then you would expect dyno numbers of about 208 or so if the sedan has 260 HP.

Re: Dyno My G

they are talking about at the wheels not the crank the car has 260 at the crank but loses power when transfered to the wheels

Yeah, Zimbo is right. The auto tranny loses more power due to more moving parts. Around 18-20% loss is a fair guess thus putting the auto stock at 208 - 213 hp. The stock 6MT's have typically been dynoing in the low 220's which translates into around a 15% loss. That just goes to show that the auto tranny found in the G is pretty efficient. I remeber when I used to drive an auto 3rd Gen Eclipse GT, the autos lost a whopping 25% while the 5spds only lost 15%. That's why I promised myself my next car would be a manual. =D

Re: Dyno My G

One of our local AT Sedan guy dyno'd 215 w. Pop-Charger + Borla Dual. Yes, I would of expected more as did he. On the other hand, a very lucky gal pulled 230 with her *AT* Coupe on the same dyno the same day ... with only a Pop-Charger. Wow! That explained why she edged out all of us (yes including 6MTers) at the drag strip last time. She's got one of those gems ... one out hundreds or thousands off the production line. Good for her!

I'm still waiting to do my baseline dyno once I find some free time. I'll be happy if I see 220.

Re: Dyno My G

Guys here si the deal.

I have dynoes my car 9 times already, and have sene many dynos of other cars. here is what I think:

1. The AT SEdan specifically is severely handicapped by it's ECU!!! Since I was the test sedan for the TS ECU, we did a dyno before and after flashin the ECu (right at the dyno site), and we gained 15h at the wheels right there and then in front of my very eyes.
2. The stock dynos of 03.0 sedans show about 208 rwhp. A stock AT 03.5 sedan showed 216. This goes hand-in-hand with the findings that my car pulled 15rwhp more with an ECu upgreade while another (presumabl an 03.5) pulled 8 hp better. So with the ECU, we end up at around 225 (AT sedans) i believe.
3. the fact that our socal "gal" pulled 233 with z-tube and pop charger does NOT surprise me. The Z tube is CONFIRMED to yield 5 rwhp, while the popcharger is SAID to gain 6.5rwhp. So her stock 225rwhp (that's what they pull from what I have seen) pulling that much with her upgrades IS i th erealm of possibility.
