This is a further post regarding a tapping / cracking noise coming from the base of the windshield. It is a problem with both the 2003-2006 and 2007+ models. Really annoying. In an attempt to cure this noise I am having the windshield reseated. I noticed when I removed the cowl there was little insulation or cushioning materials between the mounts and the glass to dampen road bumps and vibration. My theory is that the vibration carries through metal frame and causes the glass to snap where it touches the mounts. The Infiniti dealership has failed to cure the noise. I will have it done at a professional shop but they advise that sometimes a w/s will crack when it is removed requiring replacement. Does anyone have any experience that I can pass along to minimize the chance of this happening?
