If manual, it's an easy thing to try. Park car on hill, put it in neutral and try to stop the car. With an auto, if you can turn the ign off in neutral, that might work.
with the 07+, the button does NOTHING if you're moving (yes I tried )

as for power steering, at low speeds, its way way way too stiff, but once you're rolling, its like there's no resistance My roommates have gutted MR-2s without power steering...

As for the brakes, try turning your car off, and the next day, step on the brakes before you turn it on. You'll notice they go in quite easily the 1st time, but not the 2nd or 3rd.

IMHO the better test to gently roll back on hill.

MR2 is quite diff than a big sedan. Lighter sports cars don't have the need for PS alot of the time.
