My car is in the shop for the second time due to the engine cutting out and not being able to get it restarted. The last time this happened, the dealer ended up having to replace the alternator and the fuse in the ECU. I'm assuming that is the case this time, as well, considering the fact that both failures occurred inder the exact same circumstances - my VDC kicked in under hard acceleration while making a turn. In both cases, when I felt the VDC kick in I let off the gas and realized that my engine had cut out.
Based on my last exeprience with the dealer for this particular problem, I'm expecting that they are going to blame my aftermarket stereo equipment or my grounding kit as the culprit. I have read up on some of the posts about the MM Warranty Act, so I'm already prepared to take the stance that the dealer needs to prove what's at fault before I pay anything. What I'd really like to know from the board is whether or not anyone else has had a similar failure with their vehicle. If it is an aftermarket part at fault (assuming it's the presence of the part itself and not a bad install) it seems that someone else with a similar setup would have had similar experiences. My only "major" modifications are a CAI, Eibach springs, Coupe wheels with 245/45 tires, a grounding kit, and the aftermarket stereo equip. Any insight or similar experiences would be appreciated.

I am embarrased to say that it was shoddy work on my part in that I did not properly clear the MAF sensor plug (when I installed my CAI) with the hood of the car. Over time, the contact between the two exposed bare wire at the plug, causing a short to occur under heavy acceleration from a stop. This, in turn, sent a spike to the commputer causing the ECU's fuse to blow. As it turns out, the alternator blew only the first time this occurred (total of 3 occurrences before resolution). Even though it cost me a small mint, I must admit that the dealer worked with me as best they could to resolve the issue.
