I take it that you need to buy a separate adapter in order to charge the iPod. I think the PAC iPod adapter allows you to hook up to a power supply, is that correct?

Is it a different generation of the adapter that doesn't charge the iPod, because I've seen some DIY's on the USA spec one and it shows people using an iPod power adapter.

I did go to crutchfield.com and found the USA spec adapter and it does say it charges the iPod at the same time and seems like a simpler install than the PAC version, plus you gain steering wheel controls with the USA spec.

I think there was an earlier version of the USA spec that didn't charge it. The USA spec NA-11 is the one I, and most of us, have that charges it.

Yeah USA spec is the best interface I have used. ever. Steering wheel controls (volume, change songs, etc.). Also, you have full access to use the ipod to change songs as well. My biggest concern when finding one was that it charged while in use and the USA spec did just that. Pick one up. You will be more than haooy

Oh yeah, I'm really pumping myself up about installing it myself and it does seem like a simpler install than the PAC model

it's extremly simple. Just take out the head unit, literally plug everything into the back, put the interface where you like it (i put mine in the middle console with the wire coming in the arm rest area and wahhh laaa. Done. Took me about 45 minutes for the whole job and that was me taking my time, drilling the hole, thinking of a place to put it, and puting it all back together. Also, I've NEVER done anything stereo related until this. It was my first and I did it all myself with no help. Very simple.
