I have never heard of a 1/4 mi run being done on the dyno.

not sure if you guys saw my recent post, but i ran in 80degree weather with 80% humidity a 14.61@97.68 with my auto sedan. that was also with a not so great 60' time. my best mph of the night was a 97.96

LOL Noob. There is no such thing.
1/4 mile = REAL TEST of how fast is your car.
Dyno = REAL TEST of how much power your car has.

But the dyno will still be a little off since you cant simulate actual driving conditions - e.g. windflow into the intake.

Kind of bringing this thread back to the surface. I had a run with SRT-4 from a roll I was able to stay in front briefly until my 3-4 shift (5AT), SRT-4 was able to pull ahead at least 2 1/2 to three car lengths. I was starting to reel him in, around 5k in fourth when we let off. I think I would have caught him eventually, unless of course he had a Mopar stage 1 or 2 kit going on - then I'm sure the fat lady would have been singing to me. "Econobox with boost" or whatever you want to call the SRT-4's they are running. I know it's not too much to them but it's a pretty quick car for what you pay for it. Strange thing is a lot of journalists have stated that 3.5VQ cars are not that strong on the top end. In my case it is arguable that my strongest pulling gear is 4th. I'm talking the top of 4th (4800 to 6K) with the Stillen CAB and 39k turnpike broken in miles the car is screaming. I have yet to top out. Most I have seen is an indicated 143 with pull still left.

That makes perfect sense to me...he started catching me from 3-4 but then as we passed the line (me in 4th in my 5AT) he was fading...or at least I thought he was). Either way those cars have a lot of ***** for very little coin.
Our cars will pull 145 all day long...but then they shut em off...so I will save you the ticket or wait to see if you can top 143...by 2 mph you can. ;-)

with the mods the my car pulls so hard at the high end. I miss the injen sometimes tho. It actually scares people when you are on the highway and doing 80 and you hit it hard and whip back in your seat with all that power left to go. Highway monsters these cars. Wish we could cannonball!

Well I spent a good two hrs installing my new Blue K&N Typhoon short arm CAI...the first hr was disassembling the Frankencar hybrid I had and installing the K&N with the Injen heat sheild...the next hr and 1/2 was figuring out how to make it fit...lol.
I had to turn the heat sheild so it was upside down which still does it's job, but then it was still rubbing so I again took it all apart and traced a straight edge line to where I knew there would be clearance and I ground the chromed metal down flush to the line...now it's all in there...and I just have to fabricate one extra bracket out of Home Depot aluminum bar for extra bracing (can't be too safe right) and it will be a brick Sh*t house.
While I was doing the install I disconnected the battery for a quick reset and then took the car out...it chirps the tires with the VDC/TCS on, and that's my big 245/45 kuhmos and sounds even better than before so I am very happy...plus the looks are ten times better and the pipe weighs next to nothing compared to the steel one that was in there before.
My Crawford Version 5 (powdercoated blue) is officially on it way....woohoo) and that's it for this G35 with all blue mods except for the exhuast mid pipe...come the fall it's 13.9 or something's not cool!!!

I had them both of my first two times at the track which were the 14.8-14.9 runs, then 14.6& 14.7. But my car only had 1000 and 5000 miles on the engine those two times. Then this April when you and I both ripped 14.2s, I had left on the 215/60 Blizzaks on 16" Fox 5 Sport Rims...and I had 15K on the odometer...I have almost 19 now.
What are those H-Liner and Shock Fuse things you have listed?

Oh by the way I know this has probably been convered. Is it a soft limiter at 145mph? How the hell are these magazines getting 151 - 155mph downhill with a tailwind?

The limiter is a soft one...no sedan that I have ever seen does more than 145...the Coupes are doing over 150.

The h-liner is a sound deading foam for the inside of the hood. It quiets the plenum and used to quiet the injen (a little) - i have version 4 of the crawford and it sounded like a v-6 camaro before the liner.
The shock sensor is an alarm upgrade that ties into the hood pin sensor and goes off for a Harley going by usually.
