Should I complain ???
Should I complain ???
Long story short, my bumper had a factory defect that caused the paint to bubble and crack in places. Factory bumper, factory paint, no accidents.
Took the car to Infiniti dealer and they told me the above and said no problem, warranty covers this and we will repaint it. Then they call me and tell me that the actual bumper had a flaw that caused the paint to bubble and crack, then peel. So they had to order a new bumper shell and have it painted. All covered under warranty. Fine.
I figure that since this is all warranty work being done at the dealer, I would get my car back in factory conditions.
Well I must say that I am not happy at all. I understand metallic flakes, blending, and all that but this just doesnt look right to me and I cannot believe that Infiniti would ok this as warranty. My color is diamond graphite.
Now I will admit the I took these pictures at the absolute worst angle and at some angles you cannot really tell but still, am I expecting to much? Is this the best that can be done???

Unfortunately, I think this might be the best that can be done. The only way for the color to match perfectly would be to repaint the car from the front fendors to the bumpers blend. Another problem is the color. Diamond Graphite is one of those colors that looks different in different lighting conditions. Case in point, if you look at the rear shot, the trunk blends with the bumper but from a side shot the color is off (correct my if I'm wrong, but from reading your post they only repainted the bumper). If it was a white car, it might be a different story. You can ask the dealer, and the worst thing that can happen is they say that's the best they can do.

I don't know if the old DG and the new DG are different color codes, but it appears they used the older color code
That looks awful, and not right at all. I had a dealer repaint my rear bumper after they backed it into something. Nevermind that they had a cheap respray guy come in to do it and didn't even sand it down properly before the repaint, but at least the color matched very well - and all this on a 4-yr old car.
Absolutely complain. I would never accept that.

Wow, I would definitely take it back to the dealer and politely ask them what, if anything, can be done.
I just had my front bumper replaced/painted on my DP sedan and I have tried very hard to find a flaw in it and I can't; it looks perfect and blends 100% with the rest of the car. I had mine done at an independent paint/body shop though.

yes, it was only the bumper that was painted. trunk, spoiler, splash guards etc. were not touched. The more I look at these pictures, the more it is starting to **** me off. My once flawless car is now flawed and it's not even my fault. Hell, I would rather have my bubble peeling bumper back than walk up to my now two toned car everyday.
its almost like there is less metallic in the paint, the original paint just sparkles when then sun hits it, but the bumper just stays the same, dark.

^There's your answer. Tell them you don't except their work and you want to take it to a shop of your liking and cover the bill.
Sorry you have to go through this but thats not acceptable.

actually alot of people taken their DG to shops and painted some parts or other...another member comes to mind is heyitzalex's sedan, he took a bumper and painted his trunk...also has an 05 DG if I remember correctly...
YOU MUST COMPLAIN
That thing is BLACK compared to your car.
it's not the dealer tho. Dealer outsources body work to diff body shops.
But you still MUST complain and get it done right.

I am in the Bay area CA.
I will be taking it back tomorrow and letting them know that this is not acceptable as a replacement bumper. Thanks for the replies. At least now I don't feel like I'm being to picky. It sucks that bumpers don't come pre-painted from the factory as replacements like other parts do.
