one thing about the kit I got, it's not chopped/unfinished edges. All the edges are rounded (bullnose-ish) and its was pretty heavy for "stickers". I don't think the CF kit i got was laminate.
You could always use a dipping process. There was a guy in the OC that offered a CF look, but you had to take everything off and bring it to him for an estimate (wouold not quote with it installed in the car) To do my dash pieces would have been $1400+
