VDC/Slip light turns on under hard accelaration

Hey guys, I've had my 2003 G35 for about 2 months and within the last three days my VDC and Slip lights would light anytime I mashed the accelarator. The car has 46k miles so I wouldnt expect any major problems. Once the ignition is switched off and back on, the lights go away only to return next time I try to pass someone at WOT.

You might need to replace you brake pads.

Is the "BRAKE" light also coming on sometimes?

What might be happening is that since your pads are low more fluid is needed to push them into the rotor when braking hard. These lights might also come on during hard acceleration since the fluid level is low, and the g forces might swish it around a bit

Either, way, check that out. That happened to me a few months ago. My front pads needed to be replaced and everytime I would accelerate or brake hard those lights would come on and stay on or turn off after a little while.

Replaced the pads, and everything is golden!

Also, be careful bc if they stay lit all of your electronic aids are shut off (maybe even ABS).

low fluid sounds like the culprit...just top it off

For the first two days the brake light did turn on for a while. I'll check my pad depth and fluid levels later on today.

Could also be the rear end trying to break traction. If it does not do it under hard cornering or other high G maneuvers I would bet it is just VDC doing its job.

I don't think thats the case because the Slip/VDC Off light is on permanently until the next restart.

OK, as the other have said, it sounds like your brake pads are getting thin.

nah, i have an 05 g35x with new brakes, same thing when i mash the pedal on wet or slightly wet road, even when trying to peel out on dry road, i would just shut it off.

Just the VDC doing its job, but get the brakes checked just to be certain.

No, I made no mention of the power being cut or shut off. The VDC actually disables itself automatically and refuses to work until the next restart. Topping off the brake fluid reservoir did solve the problem as it was a bit below the minimum level. This also means that my brakes are probably pretty thin so they are getting changed as well. Hopefully I won't have to replace the rotors, but knowing how these cars are.....
