Compression rod sound is back..
#48
so anyon know the exact part number for the bushing that we need to replace to fix the sound, or do we need to replace the whole rod?
i notice on page 2, there were parts number posted for a bushing, however, it was later said those are control arm bushings.
are they the same bushing, or there is bushing for the rod in particular?

I have been putting off doing something about my noisy compression rods for the past year. Anyone here have the revised ones installed? What kind of price for just the bushings? I'm sure the dealer labor would be the same as installing new rods, so the only savings will be in parts. I now have 78k miles on my sedan and they have been noisy since 60k.

Simply lubricating the bushings will NOT solve the problem most of us experienced with the compression rods. In most cases, the bushings actually crack. Infiniti wouldn't have issued a TSB if it were that simple!
Also, keep in mind that if you just buy the bushings, you're going to need a hydraulic press and some special dealer tools to press them into the rods. Unless you are under warranty, my guess is the dealer's labor charge for this will be more than just buying the whole new rod & bushing assembly. See the attached pic from the TSB.

so the best way to fix this problem is to pretty much just buy a whole new rod & bushign assembly, and have the dealer install it?
im at 137,000 miles and just want to know what i can do to keep it going til 200k
