What does your temperature climb to in HOt Weather?

My climbed to 223 degrees today as i was hot rodding it a bit in humid 91 degree weather.

Is this a cause for concern?

Are you talking about the temp. display in the dash? Cuz mine is always off, it shows a few degrees more than it really is. I assume it's due to the heat getting trapped in where the thermostat is for this unit.

There's an easy test for this... look in the mirror.

If you see this:

Then you're probably running a little warm.

Seriosuly though, you talking your dash temp gauge, or do you have an external gauge for oil, trans or water temps?

.

So we're suppose to guess that you're using an OBD II scanner and you're not talking about the obvious temp. display in the dash... hmmm

Yea, spot on means anywhere between 150 and 230 degrees
dash gauge is garbage on accuracy

I believe he's referring to engine (coolant) temperature guys.

It going to be hard for any of us without OBDII scanners to say though....
Mine runs to the "upper-middle" part of the crappy guage. :P

the z, g coupe thermostat is rated somewhere between 10-12 degrees cooler than the 03-06 sedan one. nice small upgrade for 15 bucks with the gasket from the dealer.

The thermostat does not control the temp of the car, it only controls when it allows coolant/fluids to go through the radiator to be cooled, allowing your car to warm up. By the time your coolant reaches 200 to 218 F your t-stat is already wide open.

Here's one of those comparison charts for you to plot out where you want your temps to be... Also includes a tranny chart. I have both oil and trans secondary coolers on my sedan.

Once at operating temperature, mine always reads right in the middle of the gauge, winter or summer. What temperature that maps to, I don't know.

I did not intend to sound as it changed the temp of the car. I should have said with the lower z/g coupe t-stat that my coolant temps while driving have dropped an average of around 8 degrees in my environmental conditions. (verified with autoenginuity) Nothing monumental but I was not speaking of allowing the car to run then sit at idle or remain at idle until the t-stat is wide open.

Im surprised not many people with G's have obd2 scanners gadgeds,
I got a few myself, I have an obd2 scanner unit that plugs into the laptop and has tons of features, and just recently I purchased Nitrod , very cool device , works as a gtech and has all the scanning capability, is small, looks awesome and is always in the car displaying OBD2 info...
You guys got to get some...
