Well, in the first post you answered your own question.

1) You were hot rodding
2) The temp out side was hot

I guess my question is what do you expect? 223 degrees is not uncommon under extreme driving/conditions. As long as the car wasn't overheating, there should be no issue.

If you want to lower coolant temp slightly, consider getting a 300ZXTT radiator cap.

Ok I always thought a cap was just a cap, what would the cap have to do with Lower coolant temps????

AFAIK, the rad cap regulates the maximum pressure of the coolant.
Higher pressures being more efficient, but harder on seals, hoses, etc.

The 300TT cap is 17psi (i think) where the stock is 13psi.
The nismo cap is 18 or 19psi.

I havent' tried them, but it sounds like a good idea if you're running the car hard. eg. track days, mountain runs, etc.

Yes I realize more pressure means lower boiling point, but would not manufacturer build a cooling system to its fullest potential including a pressure release at a level that is safe to components? otherwise pressure release can happen at other places that would be detrimental to the system.
