Fuel gauges never seem to read exact unless you have a digital information center or something of that sort. I don't know why the hell they wouldn't go digital. My mom's old '89 Cadi has a digital information center.

I've always noticed this but it's better to be safe and not run out of gas while trying to get the entire 20 gallons out of your car.

What's going on is car companies decided to give people an earlier warning on low fuel.

What's going on is it's not good for your engine if you ever go below 1/10 tank or so.

What's going on is Infiniti provides new owners with roadside assistance and probably doesn't want to always run around giving people gallons of gas on the side of the road.

The gauge on the G only reads 17 of the 20 gallons, light and all. It is a reserve, but you should never go down to only 3 gallons anyway.

According to the Infiniti pre-owned brochure, roadside assistance is good for 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Woah, bit touchy aren't we?

Whats also going on is, it seems its better to ask Infiniti questions at the Dodge or Ford fourum then here and its better to ask Dodge or Ford questions here then on their respective forums. That way ya dont get the neato snide responses. oooooo...I also put 85 gas in it and it runs (and will run for years) perfectly on it! Now really lay the smackdown on me!

It was just a question, Ive never needed roadside assistance in my 14 years of driving yet and I doubt Ill bother Inifinti now. I run out of gas, its my bad and time to hoof it....was just a question.

As for an early warning on fuel, my 2002 Stratus would ding with 2 gallons left, nice early warning, but it said 2 gallons left and it meant it, it didnt lie to me about it lol.

^^^ Haha I'm not touchy pal. Sorry if you don't like having questions answered in anything but a straightforward straight-laced manner.

My gas light goes on after 16.5/20 gallons is gone. Most forum members seem to have found the same.

I'm pretty sure on the Navi it has a MPG calculator, so you would more accurately be able to tell how much fuel you've used, despite what your fuel gauge is telling you.

I've never been able to pump more than 15 gallons into my tank, but I've never driven it past 1/4 on the gauge. Most manufacturers build a 2-3 gallon reserve into the system for the American market, just saw this on 20/20 or Dateline or one of those shows. They mentioned that in other markets, the cars are literally empty when you get to 'E', there's no reserve at all.

It seems to be a comon problem experienced by some members and i don't see how it's even possible. IF you put the fuel nozzle in your tank while refueling, it will shut off as the fuel level meets the tip of the nozzle period. If you choose to hold the hand pump appx 2 inches from the lip of your gas tank, you will in all cases be able to full your tank up to the lip. Quantity accepted is relative to quantity already in tank, however slight.

Also remember that as your car is being auto refueled, the fuel is bubbling up causing the auto shut off to do it's think, again as the fuel reaches the same level with the nozzle tip, it WILL shut off (this little feature to prevent overflowing).
