New 05 Sedan MT owner

My 98 Maxima got mashed up a few weeks ago. I was bummed because it was going to remain my DD especially for bad days or risky areas. In two weeks I get a Nissan GT-R and don't want to put too many miles on it right away... So, I tried to replace the Maxima with a "junker" but could not find something inexpensive so decided to get a G35.

I picked up a '05 MT Sedan with 18K miles that is immaculate. The owner babied this thing. It seriously is perfect and even has a decently installed clearbra on it. I got it for $21K btw...

I've been on this forum so long because back in 06 I was looking G35s, never got one, waited for the 2007 but was a little disappointed(limited ipod support at the time and clunky shifter) and then waited for the G37(disappointed in that so much I got banned from MyG37...which I think is run by the same peeps here).

Anyway I am glad to be anew owner! I am curious to know what mods, if any, are most popular. I am not that interested in much. Is there some ECU mod that is effective, reliable, and harmless?

Also I am going to get whatever is necessary to make my ipod work through the changer/satellite as well as the stealth cord/mike's mount for my 9500i. Curious about the ipod's best location. I do not have the Nav and would love to install something in there that "pops up" when the compartment is opened(or manually...doesn't matter)

Anyway I am glad to be back and most certainly will be good spirited this time!

Oh and here is a pic taken from the online ad:

Thanks!

Oh btw I have done some more research and might be considering an aftermarket GPS setup in the compartment where the stock navigation usually goes. Seems a few models do MP3s really well and have the headphone output that I can wire to one of those adapters that plug into the stereo.

Not sure exactly what I will do (maybe GPS and ipod) but seems I have some good options.

Haha my bank account doesn't say so! i love this car but I wish the VDC would stay in the off position every time I restart the car! First time I lost traction I totally freaked and thought something was wrong with the car...

there's actually a module available to remember the VDC state after you shut off your G:

Let me see if I understand this

You are taking delivery of a 70K$ car in 2 weeks so you bought a 21K$ car to keep from putting to many miles on the 70K$ car? Rich people suck!

Yeah, 21k is his beater DD.

MODS:
Do the z-tube and some kind of after-market air filter cuz the OEM paper one sucks. Plus you get better mileage on, say, a K&N filter.
Do get the plenum spacer (5/16 or 1/2 inch are available)
Clear corners are essential, I think, on your car and color.
I wouldn't drop a DD if the roads you drive on are terrible, but DROP it if otherwise.
TINT
Other than these essentials IMO, happy modding!

Sorry if I came across that way. I thought since it was another Nissan I'd share with you guys.

And if makes you feel any better, I passed up a really nice 335i sedan MT loaded(no nav tough which is good) to get this G35. The choice was a matter of money...

I am very frugal and this GT-R is really the only major purchase I have made since my business started doing well. Also I am getting it at MSRP and could sell it for a 30% profit the next day but want to keep it.

I'd buy a house, but my rent is so freaking good and electricity is paid for I am making money by not buying, though having two cars like these in a condo makes me look like my priorities are messed up.

Oh and btw, I am 39 years old and I made ~$25K a year in 2002, 2003, and 2004... Work your butt off and come up with a good idea and a good plan and you can make as much as you want. Just don't give up if you fail...ever.

Which manufacturer? 3/8" or 1/2" ? Basic or Thermal? I live in Houston but may go up north once in a while or even move there.

I have the 05 with the REVUP and see a few things out there. The Stillen intake claims more HP than the JWT.. What about the MREV2 ?

Also is there an ECU mod for the REVUP engine?

I will do some searching as well. Thanks a bunch!

5/16 Motordyne spacer and MREV2 is the BEST plenum mod for the Rev-Up engine. By far the only one worth spending money on. Either one by itself doesnt really do squat. People that tell u to get the spacer without an MREV2 are misinformed as to what works on the Rev-Up motor.

The best performance increasing boltons your looking at are:

Intake: JWT PopCharger
Plenum: 5/16 & MREV2
Z-Tube
Test Pipes or High Flow cats-***In my opinion the best bolt-on
Headers
Full Exhaust, doesnt really matter dual or single piping.
4.08 or 3.9 Gearing.
And finally a Reflash from either Uprev or Technosquare.

And of course work on that horrid suspension that the sedans come with. Springs with shocks or since your rich just get coilovers.

All of these mods will nealy double the fun factor of your daily driver.

hope this helps.

Thanks! Remember I got a SEDAN as my DD for a reason. i think the suspension is fine. Anything stiffer will annoy my passengers, unless I can upgrade without sacrificing ride quality.

I am not rich! I am not even a millionaire. Imo you are rich when you can afford to buy a house in any neighborhood in town. There are a number of neighborhoods in Houston way out of my price range...

I would not be buying the GT-R if it didn't have any short term investment value...

Thanks again. I do love this car btw...

Damn, good for you....congrats. If you don't mind me asking, what business did you start that turned your $25k/year into MUCHO DOLARES!?
