Help, its the curse of the

Stealership, dropped by at lunch to pick up a cabin filter and went back to my
car and it was dead, made a funny noise then nothing. Its lunch so nobody
could look at it. so had a young guy boost it and we noticed some gunk
around one of the posts. He said I should not tell you this but just put some
baking soda and brush everthing off then rinse and I should be good to go.
He said its a mechanics trick, not sure if he is right or not...

Now for the second thing, after I left the stealership the car slip light came
on a few times but always when going slow and some clunking noise from the
back, also noticed a ATCHECK on the dash lit up once or twice. Is AT mean automatic transmission, I will get the battery thing fixed but the clunking
from the rear is scaring me..

Any ideas guys
Thanks

Got her back home, cleaned the posts and she won't start, guess its the
battery or altenator, will bring it to my garage tomorrow, hope the tranny is OK, I thought the AT never had problems.

Seems the battery is fine but there is a something draining it slowly
I have an old tracking device that could be the problem, will have it
removed this afternoon and see what happens..

You get nothing when you turn the key? Problem could also be with the starter. I had a Honda once that wouldn't start randomly, once jumped it would start a few times then go dead again. Found out it was a bad starter. I haven't really heard of starters going out on G's though...

yes - its not much of a trick, I've done it with plenty of cars... I've even used carbonated water when away from home and no baking soda available.

Huh?

Have the rear gear oil changed??

The battery seems fixed since the tracking device was removed
but still have the second problem. Did it again today, when driving
slow the car seems like its going to shut down, radio stops, then
see slip light come on then ATCHECK light comes on then a clunk
from the back somewhere, called a local dealer and he had no idea
what I was talking about, will try the search button..

the differential oil... you mentioned a clunk from the rear and AT check light... and slippage... how many miles are on the car? Do you have OEM differential? when was the last time the differential oil was changed?...

If it was "clunk" only without the other symptoms you mentioned, I might be more incline to think its the rear connecting rods to the sway bar end links (its a known problem and I think its a TSB now - it wasn’t when I had mine replaced, but they did it under warranty because Nissan knew the ones they were using weren’t holding up - in '05 they went with beefier ones - which it all they use now).

Also, there is a TSB for some kind of rear axle popping (but it's coupe and I don’t follow coupe stuff much).

Anyway... if you don’t want to change the gear oil, that’s fine... but I'd start with that - and have the connecting rods checked.

* or do as your post suggested and "search" - but I dont think you'll find different info. Anyting is possible.

Good luck - I hope it all works out

Edit: BTW - my response in this post is explaining my intial post... since then you have added symptoms that you didnt mention originally...

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, I will change the rear gear oil for sure.

The car has 150,000k and yes its the OEM differentiel, went through
my invoices and could not find anything yet, but still looking.

Will have all the fluids checked at the same time.

One thing you can do to stop the corrosion from coming back is buy the black and red (or whatever color) round pads you put on the battery terminals. They are designed to stop/slow corrosion. You can get them at Wal Mart or any auto parts store.

sounds like your battery is toast. It may be fine enough to run lights but when you try and start it and put a load on it, it won't be able to crank the starter.

The computer systems in the car need a good solid voltage and amperage to work right, anything else and all the elctronics will be funky.
