Doors locked while keys were in car

Today I stopped to fill up with some five doller a gallon gas and when I went to get back in my G the FKN doors were locked. I know that drivers side was unlocked when i got out. so I had to wait an hour in 107 deg temp for the Wife to drive me the spare from sixty miles away, talk about not gettin lucky tonight. Has anyone had this happen?

Heard of this once a few months back... Only thing I can think of is that if you hit unlock, then don't open the door, it will automatically lock in one minute.

However, in this case...

Glad I have the smart key, you cannot lock the doors.

That's unheard of. If you leave the keys in the ignition and hit the lock button on the door panel while the door is open as you're getting out, the locks will lock and immeadiately unlock. It's like a 2 second ordeal, click click.
Only thing I can think of, is on your way out, part of your body grazed the door panel and manually flipped the switch to lock, in which case it will stay locked keys in or not, car running or not.

Not sure if it works with all cars, but apparently you can send the signal through your cell phone to unlock your car. Maybe try that next time, have your wife or another person with the keys press the unlock remote close to the her cell phone, and bring yours close to the car. I know it worked on a civic when we tested it out once..

sorry to hear of the hassle, for what it's worth, at least you KNEW you didn't have a wallet key. after having the car for two months, i left it at home so my girl could take it for a new battery @ the local NAPA... come to find out ALL of our keys are for other G's... wallet key and the two spares i was given
