Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our c

I bought my G35 recently.

Before that I visited both TL and G35 forums and noticed, that on TL forums people tend to bust their but to prove the TL is better while not providing much proof in contrast with forums of G35 owners, who seemed to be more leaned back and honestly discussing pros and cons.

This type of behaviour (at the TL threads) might occur when people actually are trying to convince THEMSELVES that they bought a better car. Maybe a G outran them at a stoplight. In responce they go and post that TL has a better interior.

Once I saw a thread the guy posted and said he beat G35 from the light. The cheering and congrats were ENDLESS. Meanwhile I never saw a similar thread on G35 forums. This made me think that either:
1) G35 can never outrun a TL.( I thought, that was very unlikely)
2) G35 drivers take it for granted and don't take any pride in beating a FWD car.

In conclusion I want to say that for some reason there's much more agression toward opposite cars (and sometime even their owners) at the TL forums than at the G35 forums.

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our c

When I traded in my Z, I was considering both the TL and G. But I was so used to RWD that I don't think I can ever go back to WWD (Wrong Wheel Drive).

The interior is very nice, but I've heard the headliners in some are literally headliners.

Also, I find the front/side styling to be way too similar to the TSX. Even now, when either of these cars is behind me, I mistake it for the other. But sometimes from a distance I also confuse the taillights of a G35 coupe with a Pontiac Grand Prix...maybe I need to get my eyes checked again.

Glorified Altima/Maxima? Last time I checked the G is on a F/M chassis, like the FX and Z. Yeah, your TL turns heads because all the young ricers thinks 'wow, where did that guy get the body kit for his Civic?

Got to say, that is f'ing hillarious!!!

Very entertaining! When it's all said and done though, it boils down to personal preference. I love the interior/exterior styling of the G35 and the performance rocks if you know how to drive it. The TL just doesn't do it for me. I researched the TL and test drove it before going with the G. It was an easy decision to arrive at for me. I personally think calling the TL a glorified Accord with Pontiac-ish features is not a stretch. I must admit I like the blue dash lights in the TL, however, the nav sys and bluetooth capability (the only true selling points over the G) did not factor in for me. That will certainly be the last time I ever visit a TL forum...LOL

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

Honda/Acura totally has three typically the same cars, and they are TSX, Accord, and TL. Have you seen their center console with navi screen? The U.S. TSX is called Accord in Japan, Our U.S. Accord is called Inspire in Japan, and TL's original Japanese name was Inspire.....so all these names are confusing, somehow ridiculous.....TL is built in the U.S., while our G sedan is built in Japan. TL's interior looks nice, but that's it and so what? Acura has spent too much money and time in interior, while not enough time on mechical parts. Talking about interior space, G35 has a longer wheelbase than TL while both cars have almost the same length, who is optimizing the space? G35 has a much better front-rear weight ratio, and it helps the handling/accelerating way better than that 60s-40s front-rear ratio of TL's. TL sells better than G35 sedan, but this is TL's third generation, while G35 is all new, hasn't been here before at all, so time will builds its reputation. Talking about styling, TL's front end is just a copy of TSX, although still looks sporty and agressive and sharp. But when you look at its taillights, come on, just like every other car on street. If you talk off the Acura badge, you wouldn't know it is a Acura. But G35's taillights are good looking and special, and Infiniti is trying to inherit this rear styling to its upcoming M45 also, thus building a family look not only to the front, but also to the back. TL is just another Accord, when G35 is definitely different from Altima V6 and Maxima.

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

Hmmm... let's see high performance cars...

Porsche = RWD
Corvette = RWD
Ferrari = RWD
Formula 1 = RWD
BMW = RWD

"Other cars"
Civic = FWD
Focus = FWD
Mazda 6 = FWD
Acura TL = You get the picture...

Honda makes a great product, but the poor 'ol TL keeps coming in 3rd (to a Caddie in the latest MT!) in all kinds of comparo-tests. The TL is just one real drive shaft short of a really decent car. Those folks can have their blue dash lights AND their torque-steer -- no thanks for me...

You want a fast BMW-eater for lots less and with better reliability? Buy the G35.

You want a quick luxo-cruiser with torque-steer? Buy the TL.

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

So our car is "as exotic as a Buick", eh? Well, everything that is desirable, well built, and a smash hit with the public typically will be spread throughout the land, as the word travels amongst the populace -always been that way, and always will be. Henry Ford illustrated that with his wildly successful Model "T"'s and Model "A"'s - anybody remember what the (soon out of business) competitor's models were for those cars? - which would be the TL's of those days!

There was a car like the TL in Ford's history, too, as I recall - it was supposed to be a great design and a great car, but the public saw through the superficial BS on that "TL" too - it was called the Edsel !

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

For every time I wished my G had a better interior, A TL owner wishes for less torque steer. Every time a TL owner thinks the Bluetooth and blue lighting are cool, I'm listening to the sweet growl of my VQ as it presses me into the seatback. Every time a TL owner says the G is ugly, I'm thinking "is that a TL or its four-cylinder sibling?" I honestly have to look for the side crease to be sure. Both are fine cars - with different priorities. The TL is a good performer GIVEN THE LIMITATIONS OF ITS DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT. I have no regrets on my choice, nor should anyone else who has given this an ounce of thought.

have they at least considered the service reputation of an infiniti. acura is up there, but hey it's not on top... besides, having a 03 maxima myself, and with an lsd, torque steer absolutely blows. trust me, it's not a comparison on which one is better.

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

I considered the TL.. but the TL was actually more expensive than my G35 w/Premium (I paid 31.2k for my 04' Sedan) but Torque Steer was my #1 complaint.. I didn't feel like owning a car with that kind of power that would take me with it. It's my 2 cents..but I'm VERY happy with the G35.

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..

My brother is a big TL fan and said that the original owner of Honda is a big believer in effiency and refuse to put a bigger engine in the car and will never submit to putting a RWD car. He states that when his son took over the company, he decided to make the NSX as thier first RWD car. Although displeased, the father allowed the NSX but has now put the company back in track with his original philosophy's. If this story is true (I'd like comfirmation that it is true), Acura will continue to lose customers who want performance and get those who like amenities. The real question here is if Acura starts a new philosophy and makes thier TL's RWD, would that change your mind?

I like the comment about how at the end of the day, the TL owners have an Acura, while the Infiniti owners have a Nissan. I stopped reading the thread when I saw that. I'll at least admit that I own a Nissan. I think they need to admit that they own a Honda.

Many people - many different opinions.

1. Acura will loose customers ONLY if new TL will have the same auto tragic transmission observed in last gen TL. Many people gave up on that issue only and some turned to 6MT coupe CLS.

2. Wait until new RL with SH-AWD system comes in with real numbers. Finally Acura realized - performance is the key for today market and that SH- (super handling) AWD system is going to kick *** big time.

And finally, TL and G35. It comes down to a driver only who can utilize the car regardless of FWD or RWD. I've seen someone on TL 6MT ran 14.2 stock - same as G35 6MT if you ask me. Now, can everybody with TL or G35 match that number on the track - hell no but as you can see both cars are capable.

What really pissing me off is when I hear those wrong wheel drive comments. I've seen many G35 drivers who could not control their cars and their rears went side-to-side. I've seen plenty of TL owners who could not control their rides as well and even seen one dumb as$ who made donunts on highway.
